Richieu is sent by Vladek and Anja to stay with his aunt. Before they're captured by the Nazi's, Tosha poisons herself and the kids she's taking care of.

Vladek pays off smugglers with the thought that he and Anja would get into Hungary. Unfortunately, they are caught by the Gestapo and sent to Auschwitz.

Vladek arrived at Auschwitz with Anja. They arrive in a big truck with 100 other Jews.

The Russians start to close in on the Germans so they have to evacuate the concentration camp. Thousands of Jews marched to a new camp called Gross-Rosen

Vladek and the other Jews march away from Gross-Rosen and are packed into trains.

Vladek described Dachau as a terrible concentration camp. He got very sick with Typhus at this camp.

Vladek is put onto another train that is headed for Switzerland.
