Olaudah Equiano was a former slave, after buying his freedom he became an abolitionist. He wrote his first autobiography in 1789. He spoke out against slavery and helped to resettle free slaves in Sierre Leone. -

Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin. A machine that improves and speeds up the process of cotton picking and seeding. -

Robert Fultor was the inventor of the steam boat. A boat that runs on steam not oars or a mill like the ones in the past. The invention of this steamboat lead to many other steam powered inventions and was one of the inventions that started the industrial revolution. -
Death everywhere
In London, 1830 the average lifespan of the average person was very short and death was very common. It increased by great amounts once cholera wiped out hundreds as well. -

John Deer, famously known today as the brand for a tractor company invented the First steel plow. -
The Year of Revolutions
The year of revolution was the year several countries rebelled and protested. These included over 50 countries sadly these revolutions were unsuccessful except for Greece which rebelled against the Ottoman Empire in 1820 and gained freedom. -
The June Days
After the French Revolution, France resorted back to monarchy again and after that position was being abused the people started to get angry and protest. They would build barricades in the streets using about anything they could find furniture, old wood etc. they then would often fight against soldiers they where put down, hundreds of people were lost because of this. The government started to build wider streets to prevent these barricades.This went on for several days in June from the 23-26. -
Railroad revolution
Railroads and trains where becoming a huge way of transportation and way to ship product. This created lots of jobs especially for new immigrants in the north. Slave labor was used in the south to build railroads. -
Necropolis Train
Because of the frequent death caused by cholera the city was running out of room to bury people. As a solution they created a new city solely for this purpose. There was an act passed that created the train system that carried the bodies to be buried in Necropolis. -
Charles Darwins Theory of Evolution
Religion in the Victorian era was highly emphasized. And people thought that kids must be taught to be moral and everyone would be great and poverty wouldn't exist. When this theory was published it contradicted the many popular and heavily taught traditions that took God out of the picture leading to new ideas and beliefs. -

Alexander Graham Bell use electricity to transmit sound over distance. Bell then developed the first telephone. This invention was unique and mysterious and there had been no other invention like it. -
The First Lightbulb
Thomas Edison the inventor of 1,000 inventions including the light bulb. In 1879 Edison created the first light bulb. He also invented the phonograph and moving pictures after. -
Model T Ford
After the Germans invented cars that were high and pricy. Ford invented and revised the automobile and made a cheaper and more accessible version. -
The Death of Queen Victoria's Husband
After Queen Victoria's husbands death she went into a 40 year period of wearing all black and morning. This was a devastating time for the Queen and added to the common death and black aesthetic (if you would call it that) over the Victorian period. -
The Dreyfus Affair
The Dreyfus affair was the arrest of an innocent Jew who was accused of turning in French military papers to the German Embassy. He was accused on behalf of anti septism and sent to a deserted island for treason . After this many spoke out defending Dreyfus and accusing the government of anti septism and speaking out against discrimination. The government later agreed to release Dreyfus and erase his 'criminal' record. -
Wright Brothers Take Flight
Kitty Hawk, North Carolina the wright brothers flew the first ever successful plane which rose the aircraft industry exceedingly.
