Released in April of 2000, USB 2.0 was considered the Hi-Speed USB and had a rate of data tranfer of up to 480 Mbit/s. -

In octobot of 2000, Mini-A and Mini-B USB connectors were introduced. -
Introducing Micro-USB Cable and connector
In April of 2007 the Micro USB cable and connector was released. The Micro USB cable is used for charging of most cell phones now. -
Introducing....USB 3.0!!
USB 3.0 is known as "SuperSpeed". USB 3.0 has a speed of 5 Gbit/s! USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 -

Press released USB 3.1 in January in 2013 annoucing it now has a speed of 10 Gbit/s..This now puts it at the same speed as ThunderBolt. Known as "SuperSpeed+"
