A conflict between the United States and Spain which led to the treaty of paris. This treaty allowed for temporary control of Cuba and other islands.

A global war that took place in Europe. The two sides were the allies and the central powers. The allies were the victors of the war.
Many could trust America after WW1 such as the British and French. -
The Great Depression
For ten years just before WWII the states fell into an economic depression. Although some countries began to recover in the mid 1930s many didn't recover until the end of WWII.
Cities all over were hit by the depression, many citizens of those cities held the US responsible. -
World War 2
Another global war that lasted six years and was the first time nuclear bombs had been used in war. The war was between two opposing powers the Allies and the Axis. It led to economic recovery from both the war and the great depression.
Fear of America spread across the globe after witnessing the devistating power of the atom bomb. -

The attempted genocide of mainly Jews aswell as anyone who was not german with blue eyes and blonde hair,
Many people believed the US was very generous and helpful afterwards yet there was many who believed the US was greedy with the way they handeled imigration -
The Cold War
The Cold War was different from most wars, it was military and political tension between the eastern and western bloc. It resulted in the fall of communism.
The US was praised by Berlin citizens for they're airlift and supply drops. -
1950s
The 1950s Include two major military events the first is The Korean War. The second is The Vietnam War both important events in America's history.
Friendly areas of the US thought of the US as a place they could count on for help when in trouble. -
The Korean War
The Korean War was between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It ended with the armistice agreement which restored the border between the koreas.
Other countries were reminded of the power of america when they provieded 88% of the 341,000 troops on south koreas side. -
Vietnam War
A famous civil war in Vietnam between North and South Vietnam. It ended with The Case-Church Amendment which prohibited further US military involvement in Vietnam
Not just other countries but even US military soldiers thought the vietnam war wasn't a real war but more of a military conflict that harmed many inocent civilians.
