Industrial Revolution
This is a periond of much technological development, with the steam engine, powered loom and the mass production of steel. Many fortunes are made in this time, most noteably with railroad tycoons. -
Reconstruction
Started with Emancipation, continued until 1877. This era included many hate groups, but also gave many rights to minorties, including sufferage, but also introduced many more forms of opperision including the jim crow laws. -
Appomattox court house
This is when Gen. Lee surrenered to Gen. Grant, ending slavery and reuniting a nation. -
Aquistion of Hawaii
This is when the King of Hawaii signs away most of his power in a contract. This sets up the perfect window for the U.S. to annex the island chain, which is what is wanted by the euro-american settelers. It takes 12 years for the idea of annexation to come up again. -
Spainish-American War
The USS Maine sinks due to a legitimate accident, but the press and War Hawks generate a frenzy, using calls like,"REMBER THE MAINE!" to kick America on a path to war. This conflict ends with America gaining Cuba, and Tedy Rosevelt becomes a national hero. The war ends on August 12, 1898 lasting a full three months and two weeks. -
Panama Canal
This is the day the SS Ancon passes the Panama Canal, the first boat to ever do so. The Panama Canal claimed many lives but in the end created a much needed passage for all. -
The Zimmerman Telegraph
The Germans send a telegraph to Mexico asking them to attack Americfa, but it is intercepted by the Brits who use it to get America into the war. -
Battle of Belleau wood
First Major American victory, although there are numerous casualties. Over 10,000 marines die on these fields. -
Prohabition
The 18th Ammendment was passed over Presidential veto on this day. The following years of Prohabition were ones with organized crime, lots of acohol and lots of jazz. -
Paris Peace Council
This Day is when the Council finally finished its peace treaty. It's also when the League of Nations is born. -
The Great Depression
The 20's led up to a devistating stock market crash, that shook america to its core. 1930 brought hope, but then banks crashed sending the world into a huge downturn -

The New Deal is more of a reform then a deal, offering relief, recovery, and economic reform. many goverment services are created as a part of this deal. -
Pearl Harbor
The Japanese launched an unprevoked air & sea raid on the US naval base at pearl harbor. Within 24 hours the US declares war on Japan. -
The invasion of Sicily
Codenamed "Operation Husky" the invasion of Sicily is a turning point for the Allies and leads to D-Day. The British and the US are the main Allied forces in this operation -
D Day
Otherwise known as the Normandy landings, D-Day is when the US gets boots inside German controlled territory. -
Iwo Jima
This battle marks one of the most hard fought battles ever. The Marines fought for every inch of that island and was the lead up to the end of the war. -
The Cold War
The Cold War, a time period of tenison between America and the USSR, was a time of hatered, and anti communist feelings. With the USSR and America the only nuclear powers, the tenison between the two was immense, only recently have tensions simmered down. -
The Korean War
The Korean War was entered by the US because it wanted to stop communism from spreading. This is one of the Wars the US loses. -
Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was an attempt to stop the communist take over of south Vietnam. This war was a resonding failure. -
The Gulf war
The Gulf war was a war fought to keep Iraq out of Kuwait, a small perisan country. The fighting was done by Iraq and a US led coaltion. -
9/11
This was an attack on the us by al-Qaeda, an Islamist Extremist group. They crashed planes into the World Trade Center, the pentagon, and another attempt was foiled and the plane crashed in to a field. -
Operation Enduring Freedom
This is the date that the US and Britan unleash air & missle strikes on the Taliban. This was a taste of the attacks that would come. -
Op: Iraqi Freedom
This war was to prevent possible WMDs from being deployed by al-Qaeda. The operation was a successl, ending Saddam Husien's Regime and eliminating the possibility of WMD used by the Taliban.
