this proclamation made colonist unable to settle west of the appalachian mountains. this made colonists upset because it was their land and they thought they had the right to settle there. the reason britain did this was to prevent another war with the indians. -

britain said the the colonies had to hause british soldiers. britain did this because they had no money. colonist also had to supply for them. -
Townshend act
britain placed taxes on many goods in the colonies. they also placed a tax on importing/exporting goods. many colonists smuggled goods into the country. -
tea act/boston tea party

first continental congress
all delegate froma all colonies except georgia. voted to stop all trade with britain until intolerable acts are reapealed. made colonies train troops for the continental army. -
battles of lexington and concord
700 british troops marched to lexington, then concord. they fought 70 militia men at lexington but no one knows who fied the first shot. this was called the shot herd around the world. then the british marched to concord and were met with 4000 milita me that drove them away. -
olive branch petition
the colonist made a letter of peace and sent it to london. when the king read this, he closed all the ports in the colonies. this made colonist angry and wanting independance. -
The Declaration of Independance
in 1776, colonist were convinced that independance was the wayto go. A man named, Thomas Jefferson was chosn to write the declaration of independance. this document stated the things the colonist did to try and make peace and the reasons why the colonist were forced to break with britain.
