    The Declaration of Independence was created for the colonies to break free from the tyrants of England. This also stated that the colonies were an independent nation. The declaration created a democratic government and made most Americans free. However, the British saw the act as treason and could kill the creators if they lost the war. On July 4th 1776, Congress adopted The Declaration of Independence and proclaimed independence from England. The Americans now had to fight for it.

    On February 23, 1836, Santa Anna’s troops surrender to san Antonio the day after that the Mexicans started to attack the Alamo. On the thirteenth day Santa Anna ordered 1,800 men to storm the Alamo only seven defender were killed and 1,000 Mexicans died.

    The Donner Party
    The Donner Party is a very harsh story of how emigrants wanting to go to California had gotten trapped in a snowstorm and forced to convert to cannibalism to survivr. On October 8 there was a very heavy snowfall that blocked the mountain pass trapping the donner partyin the mounians. When they ran out of food they were forced to become cannibals to survive.     In 1849 people from all over came to the American river starting the gold rush. Miners found gold in a bunch of streams in the sierra Nevada. California estimated that the region could pay the cost of the present war with Mexico a hundred times.
  • The Attack on Fort Sumter

    When the Southern States started to break away, Abraham Lincoln responded by taking control of the federal forts in the South, including Fort Sumter. Sumter started to run out of supplies. Lincoln could either send supplies and risk war or let the Sumter fall to the rebels. President Lincoln sent supplies and the South started to attack. After 34 hours of shelling, Sumter surrendered. In response to this, Lincoln ordered 75000 militiamen to quell the uprising. This began the Civil War.

    Most of the Americans did not agree with Hitler’s actions but did not want to join the war. Because of one of the most destrucive wars ever, Here are most of the causalities The U.S 42,000,000 Germany 9,000,000 China4,000,000 Japan 3,000,000. The war ended May 8th, 1945

    Brown vs The Borard of Education
    On May 17, 1994 an African American family sued the board of education so that their daughter Laura brown could go to school closer to home and the closest school was a white only school. The supreme court had issued a ruling that segregation in schools were illegal.
  • The Civil War

    : The Civil war stared because of differences between slave free states and states that believed in slavery. On the first day of the fighting was savage, the fighting ended in a stalemate. On the second day the Union found Confederate soldiers along an unfinished railroad grade but attacks were pushed back and there were very heavy casualties. The Civil War ended on April 9th 1965.

    From 1956 through 1958, Elvis dominated the music charts and made the age of rock and roll more popular. By the mid 1970’s Elvis was in bad physical and mental health. He divorced his wife and became addicted to prescription drugs. On the afternoon of August 16, 1977, he was found unconscious in his mansion and rushed to the hospital later, he was pronounced dead.

    On September 11, 2001, terrorists took control of four Airplanes and used them to attack important sites in New York City. The hijackers flew an airplane into each of the two towers that make up the world trade center Killing about 2,500 people. The U.S determined that the hijackers were a part of a group called al Qaeda led by a wealthy Saudi Arabian, Osama bin Laden. In October 2001 the U.S troops took action and drove the Taliban out of power
