    The first succssesful colony in North America is established. Jamestown was practically the seed of America. It has quite an impact on our country too. If it Jamestown wasn't for Jamestown who knows where America would be now?

    The Years of the Revolutionary War

    The Revolutionary war started in 1775 and ended in 1783. The war started between The Kingdom of Great Britan and the Thirteen Colonies but, eventually turned into something much bigger. We won the war and it really made a huge impact on our history. As a result of winning this war, America gained freedom and independence.

    The Signing of the Declaration of Independence.
    The Declartion was signed by 56 delegates of the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia. This document was important because it declared that the thirteen colonies were now independent states. It broke America free from the English Empire and made our Nation independent.

    Ratfication of the United States Constitution
    Rhode Island was the last of the thirteen states to sign on to the Constitution in May of 1790. The constitution outlined the rights of the citizens of the United States. It also set the standards for democarcy and set the civil rights movement into motion.

    Thomas Jefferson purchased the Louisiana territory form the french. Lewis and Clark were sent to explore this territory. This purchase doubled the size of America. It also gave America control of the Mississippi river for transporting.

    The Lewis and Clark Journey

    This three year long expedition started when Jefferson purchased the Louisiana Territory. Lewis and Clark were sent to explore this territory. Over 200 species of plants and animals, previously unknow to science, were found. Also, the first good maps of the territory were made. This expedition encouraged other Americans to move out West.   • Nat Turner's Slave Rebellion

    Nat Turner's Slave Rebellion
    Nat Turner led a slave rebellion that caused quite a roar in the South. Him and his 70 followers killed about 55 whites. After running out of ammunition, many of his followers were captured or even killed. Nat Turner was tried and hanged. The rebellion caused havoc in the South. Whites killed over 200 African Americans as a result of this rebellion that caused fear among the South. Harsher laws were passed the limited free and enslaved African Americans even more."McDougal Litell 376"

    The Texas Revolution

    The Texas revolution lasted for three years. It was a war between Mexico and Texas. The Texans were mad about the actions of the Mexican government. They went to war and the Texans came out victorious. A treaty was signed and it gave Texas it's freedom. Texas became it's own independant republic. Because of this, Texas was able to join America.     The Donner Party
    "The Donner Party was a California Trail wagon train of eighty-one American pioneers who in 1846 found themselves trapped by snow in the Sierra Nevada. Thirty-six members of the party perished as a result of starvation, exposure, disease, and trauma, and some of the survivors resorted to cannibalism." (history.com)
    This just goes to show who hard times were back then and how dangerous the journey could have been.

    People from all over the world raced to Califorina in search for gold. California's population increased, a lot. This event allowed California to become it's own state.

  • Fugitive Slave Act

    Fugitive Slave Act
    The fugitive slave act was a law and under this law accused slave fugitives could be arrested without a warrant. These slaves did not have the right to a jury trial. This act inspired Uncle Tom's Cabin which caused a stir and drove many to join the abolitonist movement.

  • Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas
    During the election of 1855, the number of proslavery settlers outweighed antislavey settlers in Kansas. Five thousand settlers from Missouri came and voted illegaly creating a proslavery government. Abolitionist in Kansas rejected this government. A proslavery mob stole goods from the town Lawrence, Kansas. This caused other acts of violence creating a civil war in Kansas. The territory was called Bleeding Kansas. "McDougal Littell 487"

    The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
    Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865. He was watching the play Our American Cousin. The death of Abraham Lincoln had quite an effect on the Reconstruction process and left the nation shaken.

    World War 1 was centered in Europe and only lasted for four years. WW1 was caused by tensions all over the world. The war was won by allied powers, which primarily was Great Britan France and The United States. One effect from the war was the United States having a large income of money from the loans that they gave Engaland so, that made an impact in American History.

    The "Stock Market Crash of 1929" was a huge and powerful stock market crash. This crash was caused by Lax laws governing the operation of the stock market along with many other issues. This financal disaster is what started the great depression so, it has had quite the impact on American history.

    The Imperial Japanse Navy attacked the US Pacific Fleet and several air bases on the islands. A war was declared by the United States soon after. That war obviously made quite an impact in American history.

    In 1945 an American bomber dropped the worlds first atom bomb on Hiroshima. The bomb killed about 80,000 innocent people. Harry S. Truman predicted that there would be less lifes lost if he dropped the bomb then there would be if the United States invaded the Japan main land. With the surrender of Japan, because of the bomb, W11 came to a rapid close.

    The korean war was a between South Korea ( supported by the United States) and North Korea. The war began when Communist North Korea invaded South Korea and South Korea fought back. Noboy actuualy won the war. The United States and South korea refused to sign a peace treaty. The war cost 54,000 and $67 billion for America.

    The Vietnam lasted for 21 years. The war was fought between the demacratic South Vietnam and the Communist North Vietnam. We supported the South with aid and military support. In the end the south won. Other than the many lifes lost America was also impacted strongly.

    Spider-Man first appeared in "Final Fantasy #15". Since then he has become an icon. The comics inspired five movies.

    The march was held in Washington for jobs and freedom for blacks. It was there that Martin Luther King gave his famous "I have a dream" speech. It was a huge step for civil rigths in the United States as it had a huge impact on Civil Rights laws in the 1960s.

    On January 15, 1966 the Packers played the Chiefs for the first time. The Packers came out victourious and left Chiefs fans feel defeated.

    The Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight caused by a falure in O-ring seals. This lead to the death of all seven crew mebers. Because of this disaster then next space shuttle to launch was two years later.

    The day of the terorist attack that shook the Nation. The day many lives were lost when the two planes crashed into the twin towers. This attack has since introduced us to things such as the Patriot Act and the TSA. Those being only a few things that have changed because, this event has had quite the impact on America.
