Uncle Tom's Cabin, A book wrote about the effects of slavery and on slave owners, was highly poppular. It increased tension between the North and South. This book also drew the attention of other countries on amreica's issue. This book practically sparked the civil war. -

Honest Abe was shot
On this date Abraham Lincoln was shot in the haed by John W. Booth. He became a target when he emancepated the slaves, and the original plan was to kidnap the president.
