    Prigg V Pennsylvania
    Essentially a slave would run away into Pennsylvania a free state and Prigg's men came to collect however was met with court resistance and this court case would give birth to the realization that federal law is higher that state law and would bring Personal liberty laws into effect which protected slaves. Prigg would also lows. This shows that now slaves were addressed with more balance and fairness than usual.
  • Mexican-American war.

    This would pretty much be sparked by the territory debate on Texas that would have both Mexico and America on edge about each other as Mexico would not recognize the barrier/Texas. This was enough to start a war especially during the times as Americans were still invested in the manifest destiny to expand where Mexico was. America would win and this would cause growth towards the civil war not due to the event it's self but due to the debates on the territory America would get from the war.

    This was made by David Wilmot who pretty much wanted a official document that would allow ANY land gained from the Mexico American war to be banned from having slavery in it. This caused an outrage between the Abolitions and pro-slaves as Abolitionist's wanted it passed but the pro-slaves sure didn't. This would lead to the civil war due to the sheer conflict from the north and south would debate over it.

    Harriet Beecher Stowe would go on to publish a book that would have the perspective of a slave showing the realism and brutal depictions of the sanity and how a slave would feel and react to their treatment which would cause sectional tensions and even outrage being an eye opener. This caused sectional division as Northern Abolitionists and Southern pro-slaves would see differently eye to eye on the book.

    Bleeding Kansas was a violent fight in Kansas between Slaves abolitionists and pro-slaves that happened due to the debate and discussion of the Missouri compromise after effect and Kanas-Nebraska act effecting and taking place in Kansas. This caused sectional divisions to widen and gain more tension due to north's abolitionists and south pro-slaves fighting each other.

    This would go down due to the reactions of bleeding Kansas and would be in office due to the tensions between pro-slave and abolitionists especially if they were south and north. Sumner a abolitionist republican would go on to insult Preston Brooks on his southern pro-slave methods via family which caused Preston to beat Sumner with a cane brutally. This widens sectional divisions showing how problems even occurred in office.

    Dred Scott (Picture) would go to court sued for freedom and was arguing over that he was already a free black in a free state however the supreme court would instead deny black people to be citizens and considered the Missouri compromise to be unconstitutional. This would show that the law back then did not address slavery with fairness and was mostly based off the south.

    John brown and over 20 of his men would go into the heart of pro-slavery west Virginia and harpers ferry and would start a violent revolution and attempt to free slaves which would ultimately be shut down. Caused North politicians to look away and the south to widen their sectional tension against the north seeing them all as crazy. This also showed that some people have an intense viewpoint of stopping slavery.

    He would first go through the selection for his party and would win due to his opponent being discriminated for his religion and had plenty of enemies which led to Lincoln being mass voted as the candidate Then for the election he would via him being moderate and that the democrats ideals where spilt giving him a chance. His election brought fear to the south which would soon be to the reason of civil war as his election would cause the south to succeed.

    The south would get furious at hearing Abraham Lincoln become president and would be split between staying calm and staying with him or just getting up and leaving. The first state to leave via state convention was South Carolina following: Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. This would setup the civil war as this would give birth to the confederacy.
