This was a presidential proclamation proclamation stating that slaves were free as of the beginning of the year. Lincoln’s proclamation freed around 3.1 million slaves. -
Gettysburg Address
The 2 minute speech by President Lincoln was written to claim the new birth of freedom to bring equality to all US citizens, and to honor the fallen soldiers. -

The main cause of the Civil War was because of the controversy between slaves. The south thought the north was going to abolish slavery, which is how they produced their biggest crop, cotton.
