    Britain and France fought for control of North America. After Britains success, they started placing taxes on the colonists.

    One of the first boycotts/protests against the British taxes. Some colonists dressed as Indians, then dumped a ton of tea off of a British ship. This created more bad blood and tension between America and Britain.

    The first battle of the American Revolution. The Americans won, bringing them together and making them gain pride.

    George Washington selected as chief
    George Washington became commander in chief of the Continental Army. This is important because his leadership skills eventually led the colonists to freedom.

    This document was written and signed, stating a new government for equality, individuals rights, and goals. This was a blueprint for an independent nation.

    This described the type of government that we wanted to create. It focused on government where the people hold the power. The people get to vote for their representatives. It also describes the rules and purposes of the 3 branches of government and the people’s rights.

    The factory system was starting to be introduced to America. The economy was thriving, most of the money was coming from the North. The north had immigrants coming to work, while the South still depended on slaves for the economy. This causes issues, eventually leading to The Civil War.

    This was a war between the North and South of America. The main issue was whether or not slavery should be legal. The North was against slavery, and the South was for slavery. Lincoln’s goal was to keep the union as one or united. The South ended up losing.

    After the Civil war 3 new amendments were written. One abolished slavery, one promised equal protection, and the last one gave former male salves the ability to vote.
