Lousisana Purchase
The result of a deal with France. the purchase was a huge gain for the U.S. becasue France was selling the land for dirt cheap to fund their war efforts. This more than doubled the size of the United States. Despite this there were still many who opposed this purchase because Jefferson claimed to be a strict constructionist and yet he warped the constitution to justify the land deal. This caused many to see him as a hypocrite.
