Germany torpedoes and sink British ocean liner with 1,900 passengers(including some Americans). This turned the public eye against Germany all over including in America. -
Germany's resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare
After sinking the Lusitania Germany was instructed to restrict their submarine warfare.They did so and almost shut down the U-boats all together but others opposed this idea. Other military personal pushed for unrestricted submarine warfare claiming it would give Germany the victory in no time. On January 31 Bethmann Hollweg announced unrestricted submarine warfare would continue the next day. -
Zimmerman Telegram

Treaty of Versailles
This document(along with others) ended the war and caused Germany to pay for it. Germany was given new borders and required to pay for the damage they had done. -
Dawes and Young Plan
Germany's reparations would start small and grow larger as their economy improved. Foreign banks would loan Germany $200 million to help boost the economy.(sometime in September 1924 not actually the 1st) -
