  • Japan withdraws from League of Nations

Japan withdraws from League of Nations
This is important because it shows that Japan is aggressive and mean. It makes Japan even more of an enemy and threat. The reason for Japan leaving the League of Nations is that Japan had gotten blamed for the invasion of Manchuria.
  • National Industrial Recovery Act

    National Industrial Recovery Act
The purpose of this was to promote recovery and reform, set up maximum work hours and minimum wages, and forbid child labor in industries. I think this is important because it was one of the ways Franklin Roosevelt tried to help the United States.

    Jesse Owens at Berlin Olympics
Jesse Owens won four gold medals at the Berlin Olympics. He won them in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and the long jump. Jesse set three world records and broke or equaled nine Olympic records. Owen's accomplishments led the people of Berlin to praise him as a hero. Jesse is African-American, so for people to praise him in that time period makes this to be really important.
  • Amelia Earhart's Disappearance

    Amelia Earhart's Disappearance
I chose this event because it seemed really interesting and I never knew she had disappeared. While trying to circumnavigate the globe from the equator, she had disappeared. Several theories have been thought of in regards to her disappearance. Many of these theories related to many artifacts that have been found on Pacific islands. Clothing, tools, and freckle cream have been found.
  • Frank Sinatra

    Frank Sinatra
Frank Sinatra released his first commercial record called "From the Bottom of My Heart." About 8,000 copies of that record were sold. Frank continued to release more records, like "All or Nothing At All." Thanks to Harry James, Sinatra could then sing two tones higher and developed a repertoire. I chose this event because my parents love Frank Sinatra so I thought it would be interesting to research him.

This is important because it changed the outcome of the war.

    Bing Crosby
I chose this topic because he's a singer and I love to sing. Bing's biggest hit song of his career was "White Christmas." He first aired this song on a Christmas day radio broadcast in 1941. The song didn't hit the charts until October 3rd, 1942. It rose to number one on October 31st and it stayed there for 11 weeks. The song continues to remain the best-selling single of all time. "White Christmas," was continuously re-released by Decca, making it on the charts another 16 times.

It's made from 700,000 tons of sand that came from the Potomac River. The cost of the Pentagon was originally $35 million but ended up being $75 million. It is located in Arlington County, Virginia. I chose this topic because it is the symbol of the U.S military.
  • Battle of Attu

    Battle of Attu
American and Japanese armies fought against each other for control of Attu. Attu is a small island located at the far western end of Alaska's Aleutian chain in the North Pacific. Before this battle, Japan already had control of Attu, as well as Kiska, but after the U.S troops defeated Japan, they retook Attu and Kiska. I chose this topic because I felt that this was an important event that happened and it shows us more battles that our country has won.
  • Liberation of Dachau

    Liberation of Dachau
The United States Seventh Army's 45th Infantry Division liberated Dachau. Dachau was the first concentration camp that was created by Nazi Germany's government. The prisoners at Dachau were used as forced laborers and they were used as human guinea pigs in medical experiments. There were 30,000 survivors, though in critical condition, and 9,000 were found dead. I chose this topic because it was interesting and I had heard of the camp Dachau, but never researched about it.
