    A period of time when the North tried to readmit the South back into the Union. This did not work out well for most blacks because of racial tensions, Jim Crow Laws, and the KKK. From that point to about the 1950s it was a time of white supremacy.

    The Industrial Revolution
    A time period where America advanced in technology including steel, oil, cleanliness, and usages in electricity. Some people included Andrew Canegie, John D. Rockefeller and Nikola Tesla.
  • Acquisition of Hawaii

    Acquisition of Hawaii
    Hawaii was an important trade spot for American ships, because they sold sugar cane, and it was also an oil refueling spot for sailors. The Queen wanted to estabish a stronger monarchy, but the Americans attacked and won the land.

    Cuba was in a war of independence from Spain, but America got involved resulting in a war. America would win the war, and gain control over Cuba, Puerto Rico, and other small islands.
  • Creation of the Panama Canal

    Creation of the Panama Canal
    America took over the project from France and finished it. It is a canal from the Carribean Sea to the Pacific Ocean cutting through the Isthmus of Panama

    World War One
    A war between the Central Powers: Germany, Ottoman Empire, and Austria-Hungary, and the Allies: France, Great Britian, America, and the Russian Empire. America joined in 1917 and fought in the major battles of the Hundred Day's Offensive, the Second Battle of the Marne, and the Spring Offensive.

    Prohibition/Roaring 20's
    Prohibition was a period in which the United States put a ban on all alcoholic beverages, during the Roaring 20's. Bootleggers and speakeasies were extremely common in this period. The Roaring 20's was a peroiod of economic growth and the growth of jazz music and cultural diversity. This was also the birth of the flapper, a woman who cut heir hair short, wore skimpy dresses, and rebelled against their Victorian parents.

    The Great Depression and the New Deal
    The Great Depression was a period of severe economic depression and unemployment. This happened by the stock market crash of 1929. The New Deal was a series of economic deals that helped out the people of the Great Depression. It was thought up by FDR and helped out tremendously.
  • World War Two

    World War Two
    A war between the Axis: Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, and the Allies: America, British Commonwealth, United Kingdom, France, and the Soviet Union. The end of the war caused the beginning of the Cold War, the emergence of the U.S. and the Soviet Union as powers, and the fall of the 3rd Reich. American battles included the Battle of Midway, Battle of Normandy, and Battle of the Atlantic.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The Empire of Japan launched a stealth-coordinated surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Over 1,500 Americans were killed. This led to the American involvement in World War Two.

    The Cold War
    A "war" between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The United States had nuclear weapons pointed at Russia and vice versa. Tensions were extremely high especially during thhe Cuban Missile Crisis. The war caused the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, and the downfall of the Soviet Union.

    The Korean War
    A war between the Republic of Korea (South) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North). South Korea was supported by the UN and North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union. The war ended in an amistice and a border placed on the 38th Parallel and created the Korean DMZ
  • The Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War
    A war between South Vietnam and North Vietnam. The South was supported by the United States and other anti-communist nations and the North was supported by China and the Soviet Union. The Viet Cong was a North-friendly common front in the South that fought a guerilla war.
  • The Gulf War

    The Gulf War
    A war between a UN coalation led by the U.S. and Iraq. It is also known as the First Iraq War. This war would lead to Operation: Iraqi Freedom.
  • September 11, 2001

    September 11, 2001
    A series of 4 attacks led by the Al-Qaeda on American soil. Themost known is the attack on the Twin Towers. Over 3,00 peopel lost their lives. This led to the War on Terror, the war in Afganistan, and airport security.

    Operation Enduring Freedom
    The name for the War in Afganistan. The war is between the U.S. Coalition and the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. The war is still going on today.
  • Operation Iraqi Freedom

    Operation Iraqi Freedom
    Otherwise known as the Iraq War, American military forces invaded Iraq for 8 years, because Iraq had stored WMDs. Many terrorists were killed in this period, including Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.
