The "Space Race" was a race fought by the USSR and the US the whole race was just the two countries battling it out to be the first ones on the moon. -
The Space Race - Sputnik 1
The Soviet Union successfully launched Sputnik 1, the world’s first artificial satellite. They also encouraged the United States to create NASA and make a better space program than the Soviet Union. -
The Space Race - Sputnik 2 - Laika
Laika, a female stray dog, was selected for the mission to fly into space and so "if" she came back they would collect information on her of what space will do to a living being, but unfortunately she died a few hours after the launch of Sputnik 2, while the spacecraft itself continued to orbit the Earth for 162 days carrying her body around. -

The USSR successfully launched their second spacecraft into the Earth’s orbit - Sputnik 2. Instead of a simple machine, they put in an animal, which is a "dog" named "Laika." Not only it was a simple spacecraft launch, but it helped scientists observe what space can do to a "living being," for later manned travels into space. -

After the satellite gave scientist a lot of important information about the Earth's atmosphere's density and ionosphere. The great invention had to come to an end. The satellite burnt up as it was falling from the orbit to Earth's atmosphere. -
The Space Race - Explorer 1
The United States created their first artificial satellite - The Explorer 1. They launched Explorer 1 in Army Ballistic Missile Agency (ABMA). The spacecraft not only is a machinery that collects information about our Earth's atmosphere, but it can also take information about the Van Allen radiation belt, surrounding the Earth itself.
The spacecraft has been taking down data until 1970 when all their batteries ran out. -
The Space Race - Vostok 1
The Soviets considered the Vostok 1, their triumph in the Space Race. The Vostok 1 spacecraft took off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome located in Kazakhstan. The spacecraft was carrying Yuri Gagarin, who became the first human in history to travel into space. -

Yuri Gagarin orbited the Earth for nearly two hours. Although the Soviets said that he would land with the Vostok 1, the famous cosmonaut parachuted from his capsule when reaching a safe altitude.
After the success of Vostok 1, the USSR again took the lead in the Space Race. But the triumph didn’t last for long this time either. -

The Rwandan Genocide
The Rwanda Genocide was a mass murder caused by the Hutu they attacked the Tutsi. The reason they attacked is because when Belgium left their land they did not ask the two tribes permission for changing and making land uneven between the Hutu and Tutsi so they got mad but the Hutu chose to do something about it so they attacked the Tutsi and that was the Genocide started. -
