Rwandan President Juvénal Habyarimana is annouced dead when his plane is shout out of the sky.
The significance of this assassination of the Rwandan President is that it acted as the catalyst for the Genocide in Rwanda, the Hutu based government deemed this to be an act of violence carried out by the Tutsi clan, being that this was a land-to-air missile attack.

The Hutu radicals began a massacre on political opponents, even the prime minister was on the list of casualties.
This massacre was one of many that they Hutu carried out during this Genocide period but, the killing of their own prime minister as well as Belgian peacekeepers would only cause a cancellation within their foreign relations. -

Genocide takes it's toll on Rwanda.
The Genocide that took place in Rwanda was against a minority group in society that inhabited this small landlocked country in central Africa, this group was known as the "Tutsi" and faced the wraith of the anti-tutsi racist Hutu clan.

Massacre on the Tutsi at Gikondo kills many men, women, and children.
This day in 1994 left a mark on Rwandan history forever because this was truly the first obvious sign that this genocide was solely against the Tutsi tribe and that it was happening now. The massacre at the church in Gikondo showed that the Hutu had no mercy towards the Tutsi tribe and that they were willing to go to bizarre lengths to prove that. -
Massacre at the Nyarubuya Roman Catholic Church kills more than ever before.
One of the more gruesome attacks acted out by this militia that killed tens and thousands of innocent civilians that were Tutsi with hand grenades, machetes, and any other weapons that they were able to get ahold of. The militia then had their beloved church bulldozed after the massacre had taken place. -
Thousands of Tutsi members are killed at another church.
On April 18th, 1994 over ten thousand Tutsi members were killed in another horrifying massacre. There is no specific motive in these church attacks other than the fact that Hutu members know that their will be members of the Tutsi tribe attending church and will be defenseless. -
Tutsi massacre goes hand and hand with church massacre.
Following the thousands already murdered in Kibuye, thousands more Tutsi civilians were ordered by their government to remain in this stadium with no water, food, and were forced to eat grass as a meal. Once the first round of ammunition was fired on the 18th, the massacre had then started again. -
Genocide in Rwanda ends as RPF regains control of the landlocked country.
This genocide that lasted over one hundred days for the Hutu tribe and were forced out of their reign once a Tutsi rebel movement with the help of the Rwandan Patriotic Front were able to overthrow the Hutu government.
