Upton Sinclair Publishes "The Jungle"
Upton Sinclair was a writer who went undercover as a meat packer in a meat packing factory. While working there he discovered alll the grotesque truths behind the food selling industry. Meat shops would inject the meat with chemicals, grind up accidentally lost fingers, and pack meat containing rat poop. After seeing this Upton published "THe Jungle" as a 'fictional book' while really telling the true story. This thankfully led to the Pure food and Drug Act, making food safer for all. -

Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire was a devastating fire in a New York City factroy killing 200 working women. At teh time, the factory had all doors locked to ensure women were focused on working. Because of this, once the fire started, the women were trapped inside burning to death. Firefighters found that the fire escape had collaped and the doors were all locked. After seeing the awful state of the buliding and the devastating results, laws were passed to ensure fire safety in all factories. -

Franz Ferdinand had travelled down to Serbia to make peace with them. He held a parade, knwoing that he was unpopular in the country, but still determinded to ease the minds of people not wanting to be ruled by Austria-Hungry. When he arrived, he was instead shot and killed. It was the straw that broke the camels back for the Germans, seeing their time to tryuley show off, and in the end, WWI was kicked off. -

When Germany blew up our boats of citizens, we felt it was time to set Germany straight and help our Allies. As soon as our troops were trained, we went in fighting and brought a new energy to the war. In the end, we helped the Allies defeat Germany. -
