Poseidon was contacted by the king of Troy at the time to help construct the wall that guarded the town. When finished, the king did not repay Poseidon for his efforts and Poseidon in turn sent a giant sea monster to the center of the city. Ever since, he has had an eternal grudge towards the Trojans. -

There was a woman in Greece that was so astonishingly beautiful that everyone wanted her hand in marriage. Men lined up to ask for her when the father made them swear that they must not target whoever he chooses and each of them must defend Helen if she is ever kidnapped. -

3# The kidnapping
Turns out not everyone was happy with whom the father picked to be Helen's husband. One man, Paris, who had been promised the most beautiful women in the world by Aphrodite, stole Helen away beginning the Trojan war as all the men who swore the oath must now fight to get Helen back. -

4# Recruitment
Before the war could fully begin, the Greeks gathered their most famous warriors from Achilles to Agamemnon. From there they set sail to Troy where a brave warrior sacrificed himself by being the first to step off the boat and being pierced by a Trojan spear. -

#5 Apollo
Nine years had passed since the war began and the two sides have been at a constant stalemate. This comes to a brief end however when the Greeks anger Apollo by capturing the children of one of his priests. To this, they were forced to appease Apollo by giving the child back to her father.
