In 1000 bc. King Pelus and the sea nymph, Thetis were married. The couple neglected to invite Eris, the goddess of Discord. Out of spite she threw a golden apple intended for the most beautiful goddess. This started a debatebetween the goddess, eventually the most beautiful were decided to be Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera. Zues refused to choose between the three, and sent them to Paris, to be judged.

The Judgement of Paris

Paris was supposed to pick the fairest of the three. However the goddesss had him judge the bribes they offered him not their beauty. Athena tempted him with the offer of leading the to defeat the Greeks. Hera said she would make himthe king of Europe and Asia. Aphrodite promised the most beautiful in the world. Paris chose Aphrodite's bribe.

The abduction of Helen of Troy

Aphrodite led Paris the the fairest women, Helen of Troy. Unfortunatly Helen was already engaged to Menelaus. Paris, friends of Menelaus and Helen went to visit them. Eventually Menelaus had to go to Crete for a few days, and when he came back he found that Paris had stolen Helen.

Menelaus Makes an Army

Menelaus was so angry that Paris had taken Helen that he assembled an army from all over Greece. Two leaders tried to get out of joining. Odysessus and Achilles. Odysseus pretended he was crazy, but was proven to be sane by a messanger. Achilles was kept home from the war by his mother Thetis.However Odysessus later persuades him to join, Achilles goes on to be the best figThe army filled up a thousand ships and was said to be very strong. They sail to Troy where they begin to fight the Trojans.

The armies were very evenly matched and fought for ten years without a victory or defeat. Hector was the Trojan's champion, Achilles was the Greek's.

The Greeks and the Trojans fight for 9 years without either side making significant gains of losses. The champion of the Greek's in Achilles. The champion of the Trojans is Hector.

Tide Briefly Turns In Favor of The Trojans

The war was briefly in favor of the Trojans after a fight between Agamemnon and Achilles.The fight was over whether ther or not to Chryseis back to her father, an oracle of Apoollo.

Achilles calls assembly

Achilles tells chieftens that unless they can please Appollo the Greeks will lose the war. He brings a phrophet, Calhas, who says they have no chance of winning if they don't give Chryseis back to her father. The leaders of the army decide to give her back.

Agamenon takes Briseis

Angered that Cheyseis was taken from him, Agaamenon takes Briseis from Achilles. This upsets Achilles, who decides to leave the army.

Thetis begs for end of war

Thetis, Achilles mother,goes to Zeus and asks for the war to end, in favor of the Trojans.

Agamenon's dream and the resulting battle

The dream leads to a battle where Menelaus and Paris fight. Paris runs away. The war was considered over after, and won by the Greeks. However Hera was not satisfied, she wants Troy completley destroyed. So she gets Athena to convice a Trojan to shoot an arrow at the Greeks, starting the war again.

Zues creates a plan

To end the war Zues creates the following paln. He will send Agamenon a dream to attack the Trojans, without Achilles. Without their best fighter the Greeks would lose, and the wasr would be over.

Trojans fall back

The Greek diomedes kills many Trojans until he fights with Hector who is accompanied by Ares. Hera gets angry at Ares intervention, so she goes to earth and tells Diomedes to fight Ares. Diomedes injure Ares, causing the Trojans to fall back.

Hector leads inbatle

Hector, champion of the Trojans says goodbye to his family. He theen leads the Trojans into battle where they were assited by Zues. By the enf of the fight the Greeks were badly defeated and pushed back.

Greeks almost leave Troy

After there harsh defeat the Greeks were preparing to leave Troy, when a dhieften says there is still a chance they could win if they get Schilles back.

Odysseus asks Achilles to come back

Odysseus goes to Achilles to beg for him to return to the Greek army. Achilles flat out refuses

Greeks get driven back

The Greeks continue to lose and are pushed all the way back to their ships, their total defeat seems iminent.

Hera takes control

Seeing the Greeks lalmost lose, makes her take action. She makes Zues fall asleep. While he is sleeping, she makes the Greeks begin to win. She allows Ajax, a Greek, to throw Hector to the ground, making the Trojans easily defeatable. Zues wakes up and turns tide back in favor of Trojans.

Appollo hellps Hector

Appollo gives Hector special powers. Patroclus (Achilles best friend) goes to fight for Greeks. during the battle he is killed by Hector.

Achilles gets revenge

Achilles promises to get revenge for Patroclus's death. Thetis has Hepaestus make Achilles a special suit of armour. Hector is no match for Achilles rage or fighting skills, so he falls.

Achilles fights one last battle for the Greeks, before he is shot in the foot (the only place he could be wounded

Odysseus captures a phrophet

Odysseus captuers a phrophet who tells the Greeks that they will not win the war unless they fight with the bow and arrow of Hercules. The Greeks retrive them and Pyrruhus kills Paris with them.

Greek take image of Athena

The Greeks steal an image of Athena to win war. Once they achieve this goal the Greeks become determined to win.

Odysseus makes plan

Odysseus makes a plan to sneak Greeks in and suprise Trojans. His plan is to build a hollow wooden horse in which the Greeks would hde in. They would then take Troy.

Getting the horse in to Troy

The Greeks pretend to sail away in defeat, Sinon tells the story and gets the horse into the city.

Attack on Troy

In teh middle of the night Greeks come out of the horse, burning and destroying Troy. Eventually the Trojans notice,and start fighting back. The Greeks sluaghtered the Trojans and ruined the city. By the next morning only one Trojan officer is alive.

The end of Troy

The trojans that are left are carried to slavery, Troy is lefts completley destroyed, with no citzens.
