Wedding of King Peleus and Thetis
In 1000 bc. King Pelus and the sea nymph, Thetis were married. The couple neglected to invite Eris, the goddess of Discord. Out of spite she threw a golden apple intended for the most beautiful goddess. This started a debatebetween the goddess, eventually the most beautiful were decided to be Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera. Zues refused to choose between the three, and sent them to Paris, to be judged. -

The Judgement of Paris
Paris was supposed to pick the fairest of the three. However the goddesss had him judge the bribes they offered him not their beauty. Athena tempted him with the offer of leading the to defeat the Greeks. Hera said she would make himthe king of Europe and Asia. Aphrodite promised the most beautiful in the world. Paris chose Aphrodite's bribe. -

The abduction of Helen of Troy
Aphrodite led Paris the the fairest women, Helen of Troy. Unfortunatly Helen was already engaged to Menelaus. Paris, friends of Menelaus and Helen went to visit them. Eventually Menelaus had to go to Crete for a few days, and when he came back he found that Paris had stolen Helen. -

Menelaus Makes an Army
Menelaus was so angry that Paris had taken Helen that he assembled an army from all over Greece. Two leaders tried to get out of joining. Odysessus and Achilles. Odysseus pretended he was crazy, but was proven to be sane by a messanger. Achilles was kept home from the war by his mother Thetis.However Odysessus later persuades him to join, Achilles goes on to be the best figThe army filled up a thousand ships and was said to be very strong. They sail to Troy where they begin to fight the Trojans. -

The war was briefly in favor of the Trojans after a fight between Agamemnon and Achilles.The fight was over whether ther or not to Chryseis back to her father, an oracle of Apoollo. -

Achilles calls assembly
Achilles tells chieftens that unless they can please Appollo the Greeks will lose the war. He brings a phrophet, Calhas, who says they have no chance of winning if they don't give Chryseis back to her father. The leaders of the army decide to give her back. -

Angered that Cheyseis was taken from him, Agaamenon takes Briseis from Achilles. This upsets Achilles, who decides to leave the army. -

Agamenon's dream and the resulting battle
The dream leads to a battle where Menelaus and Paris fight. Paris runs away. The war was considered over after, and won by the Greeks. However Hera was not satisfied, she wants Troy completley destroyed. So she gets Athena to convice a Trojan to shoot an arrow at the Greeks, starting the war again. -

To end the war Zues creates the following paln. He will send Agamenon a dream to attack the Trojans, without Achilles. Without their best fighter the Greeks would lose, and the wasr would be over. -

Trojans fall back
The Greek diomedes kills many Trojans until he fights with Hector who is accompanied by Ares. Hera gets angry at Ares intervention, so she goes to earth and tells Diomedes to fight Ares. Diomedes injure Ares, causing the Trojans to fall back. -

Hector leads inbatle
Hector, champion of the Trojans says goodbye to his family. He theen leads the Trojans into battle where they were assited by Zues. By the enf of the fight the Greeks were badly defeated and pushed back. -

Seeing the Greeks lalmost lose, makes her take action. She makes Zues fall asleep. While he is sleeping, she makes the Greeks begin to win. She allows Ajax, a Greek, to throw Hector to the ground, making the Trojans easily defeatable. Zues wakes up and turns tide back in favor of Trojans. -
