The slave trade in Brazil started to expand more. The slaves had to work in the sugar plantation so that they could give the sugar products to their owners. -

John Hawkins became the first english man to trade in slaves. He was the cousin of Sir Francis Drake. -
African slaves in sugar production
From 1640, it was the beggining of the large-scale introduction of African slaves in sugar production in the British Carribean. This went on until 1680. -

It is estimated that one slave ship leaves Britain every other day. Half of the slaves are dying in the ship or in the initial period. -

The Haitian Revolution begins!
The Haitian Revolution begins as a slave uprising near Le Cap. The slaves setfire to their plantations they worked in and demanded their freedom. The leader was Toussaint L'Overture, himself a former slave. -
Abolishment of Slave Trade
Britain passes the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act which Outlaws the British Atlantic Slave Trade. The Trans-atlantic slave trade is abolished by the British Parliment. US also ban the slave trade, to take the effect the following year and many countries abolished or banned slavery. -
Last slave voyage
The last Trans-atlantic slave trade voyage arrives in America. The last slave ship was called Clotilde. The captain of the ship - William Foster - took the command to control of the ship. There were at least 110 -160 slaves in the mammoth ship. This was an illegal scheme.
