Many complaints accused the King of ignoring rights the British citizens had for a long time. Also charged him with imposing taxes without the consent of the people. The 3rd section declares the colonies "free and independent states." Congress was still not certain it was going to declare independence. On July 4,1776, the Congress approved the Declaration. -

Declaring the 13 American Colonies indepent from Great Britain. The Preamble was a introduction to an official document. The first section of the Declaration of Independence is about Natural Rights it also says that all men are created equal. Governments are created to protect peoples rights. If a government violates those rights,the people have the right to alter or abolish the government. The 2nd section creates a list of grievances against the King and England.
