    The War of 1812
    England started another war with the U.S. that started in 1812 and ended in 1814. They started the war because they wanted to get their colonies back and they thought they could win against us. We beat them again, and because of that, the world began to view the United States as a powerful country and started to take us seriously as a nation.
  • The Civil War

    The Civil War is a conflict that occurred between the Northern United States and the Southern United States, also known as the Union and the Confederacy, respectively. It was mainly because the South was worried about state rights and being able to keep slaves to work the plantations and the Union wouldn't stand for them and they couldn't survive as a country divided so there was a civil war that ranged from 1861-1865.

    A war that took place in Europe that started between two countries when an assassination group killed a prince, then, because of secret alliances, a massive war was started between several countries that lasted from 1914-1918. America became associated in the war in 1916 after several civilian ships were sunk.

    A massive economic decline that occurred from 1929-1941 in which millions of people were unemployed and many families went hungry and/or bankrupt.

The Axis included countries such as Nazi Germany, Italy, and Japan while the Allies included countries like England, Canada, and The United States of America. When the Allies won in 1945, the United States was even more recognized as a world power.

    The Civil Rights Movement lasted from 1954 until 1968 and it was a time where African Americans sought social equality. There were many marches and boycotts organized by the African Americans and because of their peaceful protest many were killed or harmed in their quest for equality.

    The Vietnam war was a war against communism that took place in Vietnam between the communist Russians, Chinese, and North Koreans, and the South Koreans and Americans. It lasted from 1955 until 1975. As a result of the war, many young Americans were drafted into the military, and because of this there were many protests by the American people against war. The protesters are referred to as "Hippies" and are anti-war. The Hippie movement helped shaped America to what it is present day.

    9/11 Attack on the World Trade Center
    On September 11th 2001, a terrorist group known as Al Qaida hi-jacked 4 American commercial jets filled with passengers and planed to attack the United States. Two planes flew into each of the towers of the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon building, and one was possibly headed for the White House, but was taken down by the passengers in Pennsylvania. Thousands of Americans were killed. The attacks, though tragic, brought the nation together as a people as we grieved as a nation.
