  • Flying Shuttle

    In 1733, John Kay invented the flying shuttle. The flying shuttle doubled productivity. The flying shuttle was created to increase weaving production speeds.
  • Spinning Jenny

    Spinning Jenny
    The Spinning Jenny was created by James Hargraves. It was created based on the idea of John Kay's flying shuttle. It would increase the productivity of yarn. Workers could work 8 threads at once.
  • Water Frame

    Water Frame
    The Water Frame was invented by Richard Arkwright. It would use water to power machines. Later, factories would soon run off of the water frame, because of this, factories had to be built near Rivers.
  • James Watt's Steam Engine

    James Watt's Steam Engine
    James Watt invented a more improved version of the Steam Engine. It would power many machines and new inventions to come. It created a huge increase in fuel efficiency. It repalced Newcomen engines in areas where coal was expensive.
  • Cotton Gin

    The Cotton Gin was created by Eli Whitney. It would make removing seeds from cotton easier. Eli Whitney's hope was that the invention of the Cotton Gin would replace the work of slaves. Sadly it only increased it as many people would use it to their advantage by making the slaves do more work and produce more cotton.

    The Locomotive was invented by Richard Trevithick. He was actually going aganist other inventor's locomotives in a bet. He won several thousand dollars by hauling ten tons of rock over ten miles. Many engineers would borrow and improve his designs. The Locomotive would be used to transport goods, supplies, and even people.
  • Steamboat

    Rob Fulton would become one of the engineers who used the steam engine to create another great invention. Rob Fulton created the steamboat, which would allow boats to travel without having to use a sail. It was a way of faster transportation through the water.
  • MacAdam Roads

    MacAdam Roads
    The MacAdam roads were created by John MacAdam. Macadam was a Scottish engineer and realised the roads needed to be better constructed in England. He would layer rocks which increased drainage in the roads, adding smother transporation.
  • Sewing Machine

    Sewing Machine
    The Sewing Machine was invented by Elias Howe. The Sewing Machine would do 250 stitches a minute, his lockstitch mechanism outstitched the output of five hand sewers. This allowed faster speed in the creation of cloths and fabrics.
  • Telephone

    Telephone
    The telephone was created by Alexander Graham Bell. It allowed peolpe to communicate with each other from long distances. It grew more popular and now is used a lot in modern society. A phone can now do what a computer does and fits in the size of your hand.
