Germantown Protest
First organized protest against slavery. Organized by a group of Quakers. They believed Christians should do as they would like to be done to them. This led to the Civil War because we can see disagreements between the colonials of slavery been unhuman. -
Second Continental Congress
The second Continental Congress demanded the abolishment of slave trade and that no more slaves should be brought into the 13 colonies anymore. This lead to the civil war because there were strong disagreements whithin states that slaves should still be imported into the U.S. -
3/5 Compromise
The 3/5 compromise stated that a slave would count as 3/5 of a person regarding taxation and representation. This led to the Civil War because it continue the argument of the south and the north and it contributed to not counting a slave as a person but a property. -
Missouri Compromise
Missouri's request to admission to join as a state, which meant that no slavery was allowed north of the parallel 36'60' north, except whithin Missouri. This led to the Civil War because to citizens were already fearing a war and adding a slave state to the union was only going to bring more trouble. -
Nat Turner Rebellion
One of America's largest slave uprising in the south that cost a lot of fear of other sudden slave rebellions. This event led to the Civil War because Nat Turner called for action to be made and to finally finished slavery. -
Panic of 1837
This was a huge financial crisis that happened in the U.S. A lot of people got bankrupted and laid off, making profits, prices, and wages go down. The panic of 1837 let's of the Civil War because the unemployment rate increased a lot, leaving people are desperate to do something. -
Texas enter the union as a state
Texas becomes the U.S's 28th State after gaining independence from Mexico. This led to the Civil War because when entering the union Texas joined as a slave state. -
Mexican-American War
Caused by the dispute of where Texas' border was set. The US and Mexico declared war and the United States to home a victory. This led to the Civil War because there was this agreement within the people as of where the border should be located. -
Fugitive Slave Act
This act forced any federal officials who did not arrest a runaway slave liable to pay a fine. This increase the underground railroad activity as slaves escaped to Canada. This event led to the Civil War because it caused many abolitionist to increase their efforts to end slavery. -
John Brown's raid on Harpers Ferry
John brown wanted to begin a revolt to fight for slave rights, but fails and is killed after trial. This led up to the civil war because it gave the south a bad aspect of the north and also informed them that they were ready to kill anyone who stood against them.
