16 Months Physical
May be able to walk sideways. Stands on either foot with support. May show hand preference in all activities. Likes to grab anything and everything. -
16 Months Cognitive
Gradually refines concepts. Is very inquisitive about everything. Vocabulary increases to six to ten words. Uses words instead of gestures to express some wants. -
19 Months Physical
Walks sideways and backwards. Runs without falling often. Walks up and down stairs with help. Loves to run, jump and climb. -
19 Months Cognitive
Progresses from simple imitation to imginitive play. Can remember familiar abojects without seeing them. Can obtain familiar objects from different room when asked. -
Physical 22-24 Months
Walks with more coordination and assurance . Walks sideways and backwards with ease . Bounces and sways in simple dancing -
Cognitive 22-24 Months
Becomes interested in the outcome of activities rather than just the activities themselves . Identifies familiar objects on TV screen . Recognizes when picture in book is upside down . -
Physical 24-30 Months
Plays on swings , ladders , and other playground equipment . Kicks ball forward . Throws ball overhead but without aiming . Climbs on jungle gym with fair amount of ease . -
Cognitive 24-30 Months
Becomes increasingly interested in childrens TV shows . Understands cause and effects in terms of behavior . Is better able to plan a play activity and carry it out . Can follow two-step commands . -
Physical 30-36 Months
Walks on tiptoe , catches large ball with arms and hands out straight , throws ball overhead but aim is still poor , sits in adult chairs and may prefer these to smaller chairs -
Cognitive 30-36 Months
Recognizrs self in photographs , Identifies familiar objects by touch , can stack rings in the correct order , can remember and follow three-step commands
