Physical development 13-15 months
They may stand erect with oly slight support. They may stand alone without support for a short time. They will take steps while holding onto parents' hands. They may crawl forewards and backwards. -
Cognitive Develoment: 13-15 months
Slowly increases vocabulary to 4-6 words. Explores different features of objects as if they are studying them. They may attempt to imitate words that others say. -

May be able to walk sideways, and they may show hand peference in all activities. Walks fast, and runs stiffly. They like to grab anything and everything -
Cognitive Development: 16-18 months
They enjoy working with shapes on a form board. Their vocabulary increases to 6-10 words. They refer to themselves by name when asked. They understand more words than capable of saying. -
Physical Development: 19-21 months
Runs without falling often, and walks sideways and backward. They love to run, jump, and climb. They old 2 objects in hand easily. They build towers of 5-6 blocks. -
Cognitive Development: 19-21 months
They can remember familiar objects without seeing them. They can obtain familiar objects from different rooms when asked. They are interested in small things such as books. -
Physical Development: 22-24 months
They walk sideways and backwards with ease. They can sit self in a small chair with ease. They can cut paper with scissors. They can hold crayons with thumb and fingers. -
Cognitive Development: 22-24 months
They have a vocabulary of 50 or more words. They continue ask "what's that." They are interested in sound repetition. They understand more words then they are able to use. -
Physical Development: 24-30 months
By the age of 2.5 the average child has reached half of his/her adult height. Between the ages of 2 and 3 the chest becomes larger in circumference than the head and the child's protruding abdomen. They climb on jungle gyms with fair amount of ease. -
Cognitive Development: 24-30 months
They become more interested in children's TV shows. They understand cause and effect in terms of behavior. They are better able to plan a play activity and carry it out. They enjoy playing house and imitating family situations. -
Physical Development: 30-36 months
Posture of a 3 year old is better than that of a 2 year old. The child's arms, legs, and torso lengthen, which improves balance and motor skills. They go up stairs by alternating feet, but goes down stairs one foot at a time. -
Cognitive Development: 30 36 months
They began to recognize themselves in photographs. They began to classify objects into general categories. They use prepositions , and connect names and uses of objects. They use personal pronouns correctly.
