    Alexander Graham Bell invents the telephone.
    Everyone knows Alexander Graham Bell for inventing the telephone. He was a teacher in the U.S. and had the idea of using electricity to speak while visiting his mother in Canada that was kind of deaf. He then made a microphone out of electricity then eventually he made the phone.
  • Alaska is purchased from Russia

    Alaska is purchased from Russia
    In 1867 Alaska was sold to the U.S. for $7.2 million. Then believe it or not 50 years later, America made 100 times what they bought it for. Alaska was called "Seward's Ice Box" because it was to make fun of the Russians.
  • Completion of the Transcontinental Railroad

    Completion of the Transcontinental Railroad
    The completion of the Transcontinental Railroad was a great accomplishment for many U.S. citizens, especially for the railroad owners. It was completed in 1869 and had a great change in our economy and culture. To this day many people still use the railroad for many things like traveling and transporting goods.

    John D. Rockefeller started Standard Oil.
    When Rockefeller started Standard Oil, the idea behind it was to counteract the argument about dangerous oil. So instead of naming it the type of oil that it really was, he just named his company Standard Oil because it would draw people in to feeling safe and buying the oil. And after many years of making the company, he became one of America's richest people.

    Thomas Edison brings light to the world with the light bulb
    The day Edison invented the lightbulb changed the world so drastically that later on, it led to the modern things we have today. Everyone was amazed by this new light creation and also while being amazed by it many more were also inspired by it. Seeing everything you could do with electricity and led to creating things like the first telephone.

    Chinese Exclusion Act
    The Chinese Exclusion Act was a law in the U.S. signed by one of the presidents that prohibited all immigration of Chinese people. Later on, the Chinese Exclusion Act was repealed in 1943. With the passage of the Magnuson Act, it permitted a quota of 105 Chinese Immigrants per year. This was very good for the Chinese people who wanted to move and have a new start in America.
  • Samuel Gompers founded the American Federation of Labor (AFL)

    Samuel Gompers founded the American Federation of Labor (AFL)
    The AFL was created to help all of the working policies of workers in the United States. Having a required minimum pay, better workspaces, safer workplaces, and many more things. I am sure that everyone today is grateful and benefits from them which makes this day very important.

    The boxer rebellion was a rebellion against all Christians, foreigners, and imperialists in China. They got their name because most of them were trained by using "Chinese Boxing". It led to declared war on the 7 nations because they thought their boxing could beat foreigner's weapons.

    Creation of The NAACP
    The creation of the NAACP or the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People led to many many great things for the colored people of the United States. It helped black people have more job opportunities, equal rights and freedoms, and unsegregated public places. Everyone is glad that the NAACP helped black people so much to advance and later on create some of the best things in history.
  • The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire.

  • The Assassination on Austria's archduke Franz Ferdinand starts WWI

  • The Panama Canal is completed and open for traffic

  • Ratification of the 18th Amendment - Prohibition

  • Women got the right to vote

  • The United States Enter WWI

    The United States Enter WWI
    This day is very significant because it was the day where all of our United States troops started risking their lives to fight and win another war. This resulted in many casualties and much more debt but it also resulted in the United States winning against the Germans. So it provided us many more days to progress as a nation and improve from poverty to wealth.
