When president Lincoln was elected in 1860 South Carolina Seceded, along with six other southern states. These states were the ones that made the Confederate States of America. -

The Fifteenth amendment, granted African American men the right to vote. It prohibited any denial of voting rights on the basis of race. -

Workers walked out of their jobs and started a stike. This stike shut down thousands of miles of Railroad tracks along the Northeastern United States. -
Gilded Age: Haymarket Riot
The Haymarket Riot refers to when a bomb was thrown while people were supporting the stike from McCormick Harvester Works. It ended in 6 policemen being killed and over 60 wounded. -

The Homestead steel plant factory was shut down. Not only was the factory shut down but the employees were locked out. -

The United States battle ship the U.SS Maine was sunk during the Spanish American war in the Havana. 266 out of 354 crew people sank, and obviously were killed. -

This policy suggested that it is okay if the USA still traded with China and other foreign powers. This policy was made by secretary of state John Hay. -

Archduke Ferdinand of Austria, Hungary was killed by a Serbian nationalist. The alliances came together and thats how the conflict began. -

Germany sent a Telegram to Mexico telling them if they helped them distract the USA from them, then they would take over the USA. If they took over the USA Germany would return the terretories in the USA that once belonged to MX, this was one of the causes of the USA entrerance in WWI. -
WWI: Treaty of Versailles.
The treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that ended WWI. It basically made Germany take the blame for the war, it made them lose territory and make its navy smaller. They were made pay reparations to the Allied forces. -

Prohibition was a time where it was illegal to sell, manufacture, or consume alcohol. But speakeasys were made where the people hid and still drank and sold alcohol, but it had a certain password. -

This amendment gave women the right to vote. At this time Women also changed their morals a bit especially the way they dresses. -

The emergency quota act restricted the amount of immigrants that could come into the United States. The amount of people coming in before this act was lage, it droped alot after the act was passed. -

On this day of Black Tuesday the stock market crashed. Alot of people were trying to sell their stocks but not alot of people wanted to buy. -

FDR won the presidential election. He had a plan to end the Great Depression called the New Deal. -

The bank Holiday shut down banks for 4 days. He thought this would renew public confidence in the banks. -

Japan preformed a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. It caused over 2,000 casualties and this marked the involvement of the United States in WWII. -

American and British forces landed on the beaches of Normandy to fight against Nazi Germany. The Allies advanced into Germany from the East and West, to defeat Hitler. -
WWII: The Manhattan Project
Two atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, one was on August 06 it was called Little boy. The other bomb droped was called Fat Man this was dropped on the 9th of August. Japan Surrendered. -

Berlin's western land routs to west Berlin were blocked and the USA brought them supplies. The USA brought them food, and other goods needed by air. -

NATO is an organization in which 12 nations of the Atlantic pact to be with Greece, the Federal Republic of Germany, and Turkey.This was to deffend from agression. -

On this date the United States supreme court said decided that the school segregation was unconstitutional. Therefor schools were from there on integrated. -

Rosa Parks was an African American woman who got arrested for not moving to the back of the city bus in Montgomery, Alabama. MLK then organized and conducted a boycott of the city busses. -

The Bay of Pigs invasion was CIA trined people tried to take the power back in Cuba, to overthrow Fidel Castro. This plan was not sucessful and cost the USA alot. -

MLK and other important leaders did a march on Birmingham in Alabam. They got arrested and MLK wrote his famous letter "Letter from Birmingham Jail." -

It was one of the biggest campaigns that was launched by the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army. It was set up against the South Vietnam, the United States, and allies. -

On this day the 26th amendment was Ratified. This amendment lowered the national voting age from 21 to 18. -
Vietnam: Vietnam War Officially Ends
For the United states the war was finally over. Even if it was over some Military advisors and some Marines remained, but there was no more military involvement at all.
