Day of My Birth
I was born at 4:28 p.m. on a Wednesday. I was twelve days past my due date. Going through labor was difficult for my mom. She had to be induced, but I was still stuck. They finally pried me out with forceps. I was finally brought into this world. -
First House
When I was nine months old, I moved with my parents to our first house. This house in Kent is where I learned to walk and talk. I got my first pet, a cat named Simba. We had so many Fourth of July BBQ's where everyone was dancing and eating. I was always outside in the summer playing with all the neighborhood kids. -
First Trip to Maui
When I was two years old, my parents and I went to Maui, Hawaii for ten days. We played in the pool, had picnics on the beach, and walked through an outdoor market full of all kinds of goodies. One day when my dad and I were in the pool, I got pretty bold and ran to the deep end. Even though I couldn't swim, I jumped into the deepest part of the pool without any floaties on. My mom almost had a heart attack and my dad rapidly swam to rescue me. I learned to swim after that. -
Moving to Auburn
This was the second house I lived in. I was so excited to have my own bonus room for all my games and stuffed animals. You could always find me in our kitchen baking muffins and cupcakes. We had a big yard where all my friends and I would play tag and volleyball. -
My Parents Divorce
My parents always fought a lot when I was growing up. We had barely moved into our house in Auburn, when they got divorced. I was happier living with my mom, and she was happier without my dad. I would see my dad on the weekends and almost every Wednesday. -
Dealing with Lice
Over spring break, I found out that I had gotten lice from one of my classmates. My mom and I were on vacation in Arizona when we first found the litte creatures. I had lice for seven months. It was a new strain of "super lice" who were resistent to most of the treatments. I had everything from mayonaise to mouthwash on my head. Finally, around November, the lice lost the battle and I was creature free. -
Meeting My Best Friend Tor
My freshman year of high school I took a University of Washington Biology class. Everyday when I went to put my bag in the classroom, Tor was there studying or helping out my teacher. Finally, I decided to introduce myself. We instantly hit it off. Our personalities are so alike, it's almost like we're the same person. Even though he still lives in Washington, our friendship has and will always be strong. -
Getting My License
Walking out of the DMV with my temporary license was one more step toward freedom. Having a license opened up so many opportunites. I didn't have to rely on friends or family members for rides to school anymore. I could go to the store on the way home and save my mom time. I could go for a drive just because I wanted to. Getting my license really helped my life and made me happy. -
Brianna's Death
On Sunday the seventh of June, I was at home baking cookies with friends when I got the phone call. My dad told me my cousin Brianna had been murdered. I was in shock. After my friends left, my mom and I went to my uncle's house. There were police everywhere. Brianna had been murdered by her step-brother James. This was the worst thing that has ever happened in my life. Brianna and I were very close. I was devastated. Her death has made me more sympathetic to others who have lost loved ones. -
Moving to Arizona
My mom and I arrived in Arizona on the last day of September. We had rented a trailer and drove our belongings from Washington to Arizona. We moved because we needed a fresh start and a change of scenery after my cousin's death this summer. We've both been to Arizona many times and have close family friends down here. I love Arizona and am so glad we moved.
