The Catholic church had accepted Roman and Greek teachings, so people learning science just accepted whatever they were tought, but that all changed with the Scientific Revolution with people questioning their teachings. -

The Enlightenment was a huge intellectual, philosophical, cultural, and social movement that spread through England, France, Germany, and other parts of Europe during the 1700s. The Enlightenment opened ways for independent thought. The fields of math, astronomy, physics, politics, economics, philosophy, and medicine were upgraded and added onto. -
