Proclamation Act of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 put an end to the westward expaansion past the Appalachian Mountains. The colonists rejected this proclamation and continued to move west. The British couldn't enforce the Act, so they repealed it. Sugar Act
"In 1764 George Grenville, chancellor of the Exchequer, enacted a new sugar act, which he intended to end the smuggling trade in foreign molasses and at the same time secure revenue"(encyclopedia.com, 2003). This Act caused colonists to protest. They began to boycott sugar and other imported goods. The British Government repealed the Act and tried new acts.

Stamp Act
The Stamp Act put a tax on all the paper that the colonists used to make a revenue for the British. The colonists were angry, and they boycotted the paper. They created the Stamp Act Congress, which addresed their concerns with the British Parliament. Parliament repealed the act. Decleratory Act
The Decleratory Act granted Britian the power to make laws for the colonies. The colonists were so happy about the repeal of the Stamp Act, that they didn't realize the significance of the Act at first. Afterwards, they kept a resentment towards the British. The Decleratory Act was eventually repealed. Townshed Act
The Townshend Acts taxed goods such as glass, lead,paint, paper, silk, and tea. Colonists were angry and they boycotted these goods, and many harrased tax collectors. The Sons of Liberty carried out the Boston Tea Party as an act of protest. In response, the British established the Intolerable Acts to punish the colonists.
