    Magna Carta - Forced Signature
    The Magna Carta was the first step that England took towards becoming a Limited Monarchy. The people of England were outraged at what the Monarchy was doing. Therefore they came up with a document which limited the powers which the Monarchy had. Although this document failed, it was later an issue that was discussed and suppressed by both James I and Charles I during the 1600s.

    James' rule illustrated the power which the divine right gave kings as well as the anger which is sparked within the people of England. James I was a king that spurred on anger within the populous of England. His lack of skill with finances should the English that one man should not be trusted alone with a country and that there have to be other powers to help the Monarchy.     Grand Remonstrance
    The Grand Remonstrance was a response to the request of Charles' request for money for Bishop's War with Scotland. This document listed all the grievances which the people and the Parliament held against the King. It focused on how religious officials caused a divide between the King and Parliament.   • The Execution of Charles I

    The Execution of Charles I
    Charles I was one of the most absolute monarchs which England had seen. He had disbanded the Parliament for over 10 years, making his own decisions and leading England into debt. His execution was due to the fact that he kept attempting to bring himself back into power time and time again. The people grew frustrated with his attempts and the idea of divine rule which eventually lead to his execution.   • Oliver Cromwell in Charge

    Oliver Cromwell in Charge
    After the execution of Charles I, England was set adrift. Cromwell soon ascended to a leadership role where he ruled from 1653 to 1658. This was one of the extreme forms of government which England had before finally reaching their limited monarchy. Cromwell was a man who lead the Puritan Revolution, pushed for the execution of Charles, and helped set a path towards a limited monarchy.     The Glorious Revolution was the power struggle between the Parliament and the Monarchy. It illustrated the death of the divine absolute Monarchy and allowed for Parliament to show the dominance which it had over the Monarchy.   • Bill of Rights

    Bill of Rights
    This Bill of Rights was the final piece in England becoming a limited Monarchy. Parliament asserted their rights to taxes, creating laws, standing armies, and free speech to all. Parliament also gained the right to be elected and the limited Monarchy was established. This was the final piece which established the limited Monarchy.
