First English settlers arrive, military conflicts between Spanish and English rage on for two centuries
Sometime in the 1600s. The Mayan control disappeared along with the whole civilization. The Spanish and English fight over control over Belize.

British gain control over Belize
Spanish eventually fall, sometime in 1800s.

Sometime in 1862. The British obviously won the battle against the Spanish.

British begin to loose control over Settlement of Belize
It is unkown why this happened, maybe because of governmental problems. Sometime in the 1960s.
