~Adolf Hitler Tries to Overthrow the Government
Hitler and the Nazi party tried to overthrow the government. However, Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch fails and he goes to prison. -
~Hitler Publishes Mein Kampf
In July of 1925, Hitler published his book, Mein Kampf. It's an autobiography of himself that he wrote while in prison for trying to overthrow Germany's government. It was a bestseller in Germany in the 1930s. The book was given to every newlywed couple and every soldier fighting at the front. Mein Kampf is filled with lots of antisemitic political view that changed the view of many German citizens who read it. -
~Hitler is Appointed Chancellor
Adolf Hitler is appointed chancellor of Germany. Many historians agree that this was the day that the Holocaust started. -
*First Concentration Camp Is Opened
The first concentration camp of WWII is opened at Dachau in Germany. It was intended to hold political prisoners. It was in operation from 1933 to 1945. -
//Boycotting of Jewish-Owned Businesses Begins
On this day, people began boycotting Jewish-owned businesses and shops in Germany. This made it nearly impossible for Jews to make a living. -
~Hitler Becomes Führer of Germany
After the death of President Hindenburg, Hitler appointed himself Fuhrer of Germany, giving himself complete dictatorial power over all of Germany. -
//Nuremberg Laws Are Passed
The Nuremberg laws are passed. These laws made it illegal for Jews to marry Aryans, and dictated whether or not a person was Jewish. These were extremely anti-Semitic laws. -
//The Eternal Jew Art Exhibition is Opened
'The Eternal Jew' was the title of an art exhibition that was opened in November of 1937 that went until January of 1938. Nearly 5,000 people a day came to visit each day. The art inside was anti-Semitic. It showed caricatures of Jewish people and painted them as people trying to make Germany a communist state. -
//Kristallnacht Begins
Kristallnacht, or Night of the Broken Glass, was November 9th, 1938, to the morning of November 10th. Thousands of Jewish shops, synogagues, and homes were broken into and destroyed. -
*Hitler Invades Poland
Hitler invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939. Poland was full of Jewish people and ended up having the most concentration camps in any country during WWII. -
*Italy Enters WWII as Axis Power
Benito Mussolini, the dictator of Italy at the time, signed a truce with Germany and entered into the war as an Axis power. -

The Tripartite Pact, also known as the Berlin Pact, was an agreement between Germany, Italy and Japan. -

Jud Suss was a propaganda film released during WWII. It is said to be one of the most anti-Semitic films ever made. -
*Hitler Invades Russia
Hitler breaks his treaty with Russia and invades. This is when the war begins to take a turn. Russian forces do not allow the Nazis to take ahold of Russia. -
*Pearl Harbor is Bombed
Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii, is bombed. This is what causes the U.S. to go to war with Germany. -
*The Final Solution is Unveiled
At the Wannsee conference, head officials of the Nazi party got together to ensure the cooperation of everyone in implementing the "final solution to the Jewish question". They spoke on what to do with the remaining Jews. Most of them were to be killed. -
*D-Day
The Allied forces invaded France on this day. It was the largest seaborne attack ever made. Many soldiers died this day. -
~Hitler Commits Suicide
As the Allied militaries close in, Hitler kills himself in his bunker to avoid being caught. -
*'Denazification' Begins
At the Yalta Conference, the U.S., Britain, and the Soviet Union all agree on the denazification of Germany as a goal after the end of World War II. -
