French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was fought between France and Britain America. This war lasted from 1756 to 1763, and it was called the Seven Years War. This war happened in America. I chose this because the British Americans won the war and it provided them great territorial gains. This event is important because we got more land from it and that is why I picked it. -
American Revolution
The American Revolution was between the Patriots and the British. The American Revolution was a colonial revolt. Americans wanted to be free out of Britain's power. This event happened between 1765 and 1783. This happened in the U.S. primarily. I chose this event because if we didn't win the American Revolution, we would still be under Britain's power and that is why it's important. -
The Declaration Of Independence Signed
The Declaration of Independence was one of the most important documents in American history. The 13 colonies declared independence from Britain. This would make America free from Britain's rule. The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th, 1776. It was signed in Philadelphia. I chose this event because it shapes where America is today and if we didn't declare freedom from Britain, we would be under their power still. -
The Model Treaty
The Model Treaty was a template for commercial treaties. The Continental Congress sought to make with France and Spain in order to secure assistance in the struggle against the British. This treaty was approved September 17th, 1776. This was in the U.S. This is important because it secured assistance with Spain and France to be on our side and I picked it for this reason. -
Articles Of Confederation
The Articles Of Confederation was the original constitution of the U.S. It was ratified in 1781, and replaced by the new constitution in 1789. The U.S. made the Articles. It was made between 1776 and 1777. It took place in Maryland. I chose this event because it shaped the constitution to how It is today and that is why it's important. -
Treaty Of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was a treaty made to stop the Spanish American war. It was signed on September 3rd, 1783 by King George the third and representatives of the U.S. Signed in Paris, France. This is important because it caused the war to end and peace with Spain and that is why I chose it. -
Constitutional Convention
The Constitutional Convention took place from May 25th to September 17th, 1787 in the old Pennsylvania State House. The Colonies were involved in this event. The Convention happened because the colonies wanted to set rules for the new free country. This shaped the constitution to where it is today and without that, we could have been divided. -
The U.S. and French Revolution
The US and French Revolution lasted from 1789-1799. France forced the US to articulate a clear policy of neutrality in order to avoid being embroiled in these European conflicts. This happened in the US. I thought this event was just interesting to American History. -
The US and Haitian Revolution
The US and Haitian Revolution lasted between 1791-1804. Haiti created the second independent country in the Americas after the US. This happened in Haiti. This is important because the US set an example for other countries that want to be independent and I think that's interesting. -
John Jay's Treaty
The treaty was made in 1795 and was between the US and Britain that avoided a war. It was made in the US. It's important because it avoided a war that we would be in debt for. -
Washington's Farewell Address
Washington wrote a letter that after 20 years of public service and presidency. Washington wrote it near his second term of being President. He wrote it in 1796. It was written in the US. This is important because he needed to say when he was retiring from all of his work and that's why I picked it. -
Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was the buying of the middle territory in the US. Jefferson bought the Louisiana Purchase. They bought this purchase in 1803. This territory is in the US. This is important because it's a big portion of the US and if we didn't buy the purchase, we would have had a way smaller country and that's interesting to think about. -
War of 1812
War that lasted from 1812-1815. It was between US and Britain. The war was fought in North America. This is important because both Britain and the US won, depending how you look at it, which is interesting. -
Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine was a US policy of opposing European colonialism in the US. This policy began in 1823, happened in America, and I like it because it shows that the US has the ability to be on their own. -
The First Opium War
The First Opium war was a war between the Britain/US and China. It took place between 1839-1842. It was fought on the Empire of the Great Qing. It's important because we gave the Chinese Opium and they were addicted and a war spawned from that. -
The Ashburton Treaty
The Ashburton Treaty was a treaty signed August 9th,1842. It resolved border issues between the US and Britain. It was signed in Washington D.C. -
Oregon Territory
The territory of Oregon was an organized incorporated territory of the US that existed from August 14th, 1848 until February 14th, 1859. I chose this because it is very interesting because it turned into the state of Oregon. -
US Diplomacy and Telegraph
The telegraph changed the way the world would be forever. Arthur B. Sleigh created the telegraph. It was made in 1855. This was made in Britain. This is important because it changed the way of communication forever. -
The Alaska Purchase
The purchase of Alaska was the US' acquisition of Alaska from the Russian Empire. Alaska became part of the US on October 18th,1867. This was in the US. This is very important because if we didn't purchase Alaska, the US would be a lot smaller and that's why I picked this event. -
The Seward Treaty
The Burlingame-Seward Treaty was between China and the US. The treaty was made to have US have power in the East. It was made in America. It was made 1868. I chose this because it shows that US wanted to be in charge and that is important because we want to be leaders.
