  • French/Indian war

    The war was fought between the colonies of British America and New France. At the start the French colonies had 60,000 compared to the English who had 2 million.
  • Stamp Act

    The stamp act was passed by the British parliament on March 22,1765.the new tax required colonist to pay tax on all paper,documents and licenses.
  • Townsend Revenue act

    Taxes on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea were raised on taxes. Crowds attacked the office forcing the officials to retire.
  • Boston massacre

    The troops were constantly tormented. Finally there was a riot which killed five men.
  • Boston Tea Party

    They through all of the tea into the harbor to protest tax on tea.
  • Tea act

    The purpose of the act was not to raise revenue from colonies.
  • Intolerable act

    Law was passed for British parliament after the British tea party.They were punished for throwing the tea into the harbor.
  • battle of Lexington and Concord

    Hundreds of British troops attacked from Boston to Concord. Many more battles followed, but in 1783 the colonist finally won their independence.
  • 1st and 2nd continental congress

    Was a convention of delegates from the thirteen colonies.the second congress managed the colonial war.
  • Common Sense

    Common sense led into there independence. Pamphlets were used to spread information.
