This is when WW1 started. This was also called the "Great War." The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria started up this terrible war that would last four years. -

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike by the Japanese Navy Air Service upon the United States against the American naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, just before 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 7, 1941. On December 8th, 1941 the United States declared war with Japan due to the attack. -
