  • 1783 Peace Treaty ends Revolutionary war.

    The Treaty of Paris, signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain and representatives of the United States of America on September 3, 1783, ended the American Revolutionary War.
  • President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863

    The Emancipation Proclamation discontinued slavery in states president Abraham Lincoln had controlled.It opened the door to black soldiers volunteering to fight in the U.S. Army.
  • World War 1

    World War I, also known as the First World War, the Great War, or the War to End All Wars, was a global war originating in Europe that lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918
  • Nazi Germany

    Nazi Germany is the common English name for the period in German history from 1933 to 1945, when Germany was governed by a dictatorship under the control of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. Around six million people died under Hitler’s Ruling.
  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki On August 6, 1945

    On August 6, 1945 the US dropped an atomic bomb ("Little Boy") on Hiroshima in Japan. Three days later a second atomic bomb ("Fat Man") was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. These were the only times nuclear weapons have been used in war.
  • Cold War

    The Cold War was a state of geopolitical tension after World War II between powers in the Eastern Bloc and powers in the Western Bloc. During World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union fought together as allies against the Axis powers. However, the relationship between the two nations was a tense one. Americans had long been wary of Soviet communism and concerned about Russian leader Joseph Stalin’s tyrannical, blood-thirsty rule of his own country.
  • The Berlin Wall

    Constructed by the German Democratic Republic , starting on 13 August 1961, the Wall completely cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany and from East Berlin until government officials opened it in November 1989.
  • Apollo 11

    Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first two humans on the Moon. Mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin, both American, landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969.
  • 9/11

    The planes suicide bombed into the twin tower. This raised awareness about terrorism and increased security everywhere.
