  • Fire.

    Fire.
    Fire starts on eigth floor. Work ended at 4:30 but most workers were gathering there belongings and paychecks... Of the 500 employees, 146 were dead. Thousands of people were lined up to be indentified by loved ones.

    The National Women's Trade Union League organize protest over unsafe working conditions and demand reforms.

    Harris and Blanck's trial begins... both doubts on the validity of the witnesses' accounts.

    The New York legislature passes 8 bills proposed by the Factory Investigation Comittiee... Comittiee begins examing conditions of factories around the city.

    Harris and Blanck are found guilty of locking the doors of their new factory with a chain during work hours.

    Max Blanck invites visitors to observe his 'safe' way of keeping employees from stealing… instead, he recieves a warning from a cheif inspector who finds several safety violations.
  • Lawsuits Settled.

    Lawsuits Settled.
    Harris and Blanck finally settle by paying $75 per life lost. Although, families are unable to pay for insuranec expensive litigation.
