The Titan's Curse

  • Westover Hall

    Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia go to Westover Hall to retrieve two halfbloods that could be in danger. While fighting a manticore that wants to take the kids for himself, Annabeth falls off of the cliff. Artemis and her hunters come to the rescue of the group, but Annabeth is missing. Quote: “I still wanted to jump off the cliff and search for her, but I had a feeling that Artemis was right. Annabeth was gone.” (Riordan 31)

    Quote: "'What about you? You ever get in touch with your mom?' As soon as I said it, I wished I hadn't. Thalia was great at giving evil looks... 'If that was any of your business, Percy-'" (Riordan 3) It is apparent Thalia does not have a good relationship with her mother. this is not expanded upon more. Quote: "Annabeth sighed. 'He decided to move. Just when I was getting settled in New York, he took this stupid new job researching for a world war 1 book. In San Francisco.'" (Riordan 13)
  • Apollo

    Once the fight is finished, Apollo arrives in his sun chariot to bring the kids to Camp Half-Blood. While on their way there, he lets Thalia drive the chariot. She is afraid of heights though, making this an unpleasant experience for her. Quote: "'I'm under control,' Thalia muttered, 'I'm under control.'" (Riordan 55)
  • Capture the Flag and the Oracle

    The camp plays a game of capture the flag against the hunters, which they lose. It is decided that Percy will not go on the quest to save Artemis and Annabeth, but he goes anyway after consulting his mother about it. Quote: “I mean, do you really, deep down, believe that you have to help save her? Do you think it’s the right thing to do? Because I know one thing about you, Percy. Your heart is always in the right place. Listen to it.” (Riordan 105)
  • Washington D.C.

    Percy follows the quest's van on his Pegasus Blackjack. When they arrive in Washington D.C., he finds a ritual to create skeletons to kill the people on the quest. Percy runs away and joins the group of hunters, with whom he defeats a giant lion sent to kill them. They find a car hauler they get inside for the night. Here Percy has a talk with Thalia about her past. Quote: “Zoe and I got into a fight. She told me I was being stupid. She said Luke would let me down someday.” (Riordan 154)
  • Junkyard of the Gods

    When the group gets off of the car hauler, they find g, "Gift from the Wild," which is a giant pig they ride to the junkyard of the gods. There they fight a giant robot guardian that kills Bianca di Angelo.
  • Annabeth's Dad's House

    The group minus Bianca go to Annabeth's dad's house to tell him the situation and to get a ride to the mountain they need to find her. He is very absorbed in his work and does not realize the situation at hand. Quote: "'You saw the Sopwith Camels?' Dr. Chase said. 'How many were there? What formations did they fly?' 'Sir,' Thalia broke in again. 'Annabeth is in danger.' That got his attention. He set the biplane down." (Riordan 247)

    Quote: "After hearing Annabeth gripe about her dad for two years I was expecting him to have devil horns and fangs. I was not expecting him to be wearing an old-fashioned aviator's cap and goggles." (Riordan 244)
  • Final Battle

    When the group arrives at the mountain, they are faced by the titan Atlas and a person who was once a camper, Luke. Luke tries to convince Thalia to join his side by saying, Quote: “’If you join me,’ Luke promised, “It can be like old times. The three of us together. Fighting for a Better world. Please, Thalia, if you don’t agree…” (Riordan 264). There is conflict between Zoe and Atlas because it is at this point we learn he is her father.
  • Ending of the Battle

    In the end of the battle, Atlas is condemned to hold up the sky again, and the monsters coming to attack the group while they are tired are cut down by Annabeth's father flying a plane. Once they returned to her father's house, Annabeth finally makes up with her father. Quote: "Annabeth turned toward him. 'Dad, I... I'm sorry that-' 'Shh' He hugged her. 'Do what you must, my dear. I know this isn't easy for you.' His voice was a little shaky, but he gave Annabeth a brave smile." (Riordan 280)

    Quote: '''I am sorry we argued,' Zoe said. 'We could have been sisters.' 'It's my fault,' Thalia said, blinking hard 'You were right about Luke, about heroes, men-everything.' 'Perhaps not all men,' Zoe murmured. She smiled weakly at me." (Riordan 277-278) Thalia and Zoe make up and are finally not at each other's throats, as well as Zoe finally coming accept Percy.
