1800 of Santa Anna's troops stormed the fortress and at the end of the 13th day, all but 5 of the volunteers in the Alamo had been killed. -
Refugio
The battle of Refugio was a three day battle that lasted fro the 12 of March, 1836, to the 15; between General Urrea and his 1500 men, and Lt. Col. Ward and 148 men. All of Ward's men were killed, and only 100 of Urrea's men were killed. -
Coleto
The battle of Coleto fought on the 19th and 20th of March. On the 19th Fannin led a leisurely retreat from Goliad, Mexican Troops surrounded them before Fannin could reach the cover of a grove at Coleto Creek. Texans formed a square and held off three of the Mexican attacks, as night fell Mexican sharpshooters killed and wounded many Texans. On the morning of the 20th, the Texans surrendered. -
Goliad
Santa Anna gave one of his generals, Jose Urrea, the command to kill the Texans in Goliad. Urrea executed more than 300 of the Texan soldiers. -
Battle of San Jacinto
In 18 minutes the Texans and volunteers crept into Santa Anna's camp "with the still ness of death" and killed more than half of the Mexican Army. -
Lone-Star Republic
Texans raised a flag with a single star. They also adopted a nickname, the Lone Star Republic. They also proclaimed themselves an independent nation. Sam Houston was elceted as President of the Republic.
