Alonso Álvarez de Pineda is first European to spot Texas.
He became the first European to see the land of Texas at sometime in ,1519, during an expedition to map the New World for the govenor of Jamaica. -

Narv'aez Expedition
Cabeza de Vaca and three toher men are the only survivors of the failed expedition to colonize the North American mainland. They try getting to Mexico after being enslaved by indians and mapped much of Texas. -

Spain Ignores Texas
The Spanish ignore Texas until they learn that the French established a fort that failed. -
French Estblish Fort
They established Fort Saint Louis when they were ship wrecked in Matagorda Bay. -
Spanish launch to find French fort
They launch several ships over the next three years to find thiss fort . -
Spanish find French Survivor
They found on their last expedition a French survivor living among the Coahuiltecans in south Texas. He then helped lead them to Fort Saint Louis. The fort had been destroyed by the Karankawa. -
The first mission is founded
De Leon sets out with troops and people to found a colony. They stopped first to burn Fort Saint Louis to the ground. They headed into east Texas and founded Mission San Francisco de los Tejas. The monks made the soldiers leave and left only three to assist the monks. -
Texas' First Govenor
The Spanish appoint General Domingo Terán de los Rios the first govenor of Texas. He was appointed to also found seven new missions. -
The First Mission of Texas Closes
Due to disease and threat of personal attack the group burned the mission and fled toward Monclova. -

France makes Spain's Intrest in Texas Rise
The French established two forts in Biloxi and along the Mississippi River. This crushed Spain's control of the Gulf Coast. Making Spain need to estab;ish Texas before the French moved in again. -
Father Hidalgo Tries Re-establishing the Missions
He failed to convince Spanish officials that they needed to re-open them to help spread the Spanish culture. -
French Scare
Father Hidalgo went to France for help after his failed attempt and the govenor of Louisiana sent representatives about the Texas missions. This scared the Spanish into re-opening missions. -
Four Missions and a Presidio
Four missions and a presidio are built in East texas. A presidio is a Spanish fort used to protect missions. -

In late 1716 They put Martín de Alarcón in charge of Texas. -
Settled along the San Antonio River
Alcorn brought in a large amount of settlers establishing a colony that is now San Antonio. -

French Take Mission San Miguel de los Adaes
They tricked it's sole defender who did not even know that they were at war. -
New Govenor
Marquis de San Miguel de Aguayo became govenor of Tejas and Coahuila. -
Cattle Drive
Thery brought with them a large number of cattle and goats and sheep. This symbolized the first cattle drive in Texas and the begining of the Texas Ranching. -
Apache Raids
The Apache discovered San Antonio and started raiding it. -
Not a Shot fired
They recaptured the mission without even firing a shot when the French saw they were greatly outnumbered they fled to Louisiana. -

Spain Continues making missions and settlements

Going South
The settlers in East Texas were forced to relocate to San Antonio and they were only given five days to ready them selves. -
Founding of Nacogdoches
They moved them back ,but only allowed them to go as far as the Trinity River. -
Spain Loses Control
Napoleon forces Spainish King to give his throne to Napoleons oler brother. -
Independance
Mexico starts rebelling during the turmoil and started its war for independance. -

They go through Texas and Mexico capturing cities and killing the Spanish officials. -
Spain regains it's King
King Fernando VII regained his throne and was forced to recognize the constitution to pass a coup threat. -
Spain is Gone
They declare Mexico a independant Nation and Texas joins them until October 1835 when they raged war and earned their own independance.
