Cabeza de Vaca shipwrecks
Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca shipwrecked near Galveston begin exploration. He spent the next 8 years living with the Natives. He even endured slavery. -
Jumano Indians
Jumano Indians requested Spanish missionaries from New Mexico. They traveled to the vicinity of present-day San Angelo and instruct the Jumanos about Christianity.The jumano indians lived in pueblonean type villages. -
San Antonio de Valero mission
San Antonio de Valero mission was the chapel. It was founded in San Antonio. It was also known as the Alamo. -
Thousands of cotton
Missions at San Antonio are producing thousands of pounds of cotton annually. Every day they produce hundreds of pounds each day. These used cotton to make many items. -
Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costillo
Father Miguel and his peasants started a revolt against the dominant pennisulares. They were under the virgin of the Guadeloupe. Hidalgo was captured on March 21 and executed on July 30. -
"Old three hundred"
Stephen F. Austin received a grant from the Mexican government and began colonization in the region of the Brazos River. Mexican officials approve Austin's plan to bring three hundred families into his colony. This group becomes known as the "Old Three Hundred." -
The declaration of independence of the freedom of Fredonia
A group of people in Nacogdoches signed the declaration. The declaration exclaimed the freedom rights that people in Fredonia get. -
The Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers organization is officially established by Texas' provisional government. Although Stephen F. Austin had hired 10 frontiersmen as "rangers" to help protect his colonists against Indian raids in 1823. This was not until 183 when the law-enforcement group formally organized. -
Baylor University
Baylor universtiy is founded and became a member of (IABCU). It is a nationally ranked christian-affiliated research university.The university is located in Waco,Texas. -
Robert E. Lee
Robert E. Lee is ordered to return to Washington from regimental headquarters at Fort Mason.He returned to assume command of the Union Army. Instead, Lee resigns his commission; he assumes command of the Confederate Army by June 1862. -
Sam Houston
After annexation, Houston was elected state Senate.He becaqme unhappy with succesion. He eventually resigned being govenor due to succesion reasons. -
General Granger
General Gordon Granger arrives at Galveston. He went there to announce that slavery has been abolished. This event became known as Juneteenth today. -

The university of Texas is founded.The university is located exactly 0.25miles away from the capitol of Texas.It is the flagship institution of the University of Texas system. -
the Great Hurricane
The Great Hurricane goes through Galveston.It destroys almost the entire city and kills over 6,000 people. One of the worst hurricanes recorded in history. -
Benjamin Foulois
Luitenant Benjamin D. Foulois was the first military leader to fly in a Wright Brother's plane. He purchased it from them and got lessons on how to fly it. Soon enough he was flying the plane. -

William P. Hobby
William was the publisher of the Houston post.He was also the 27 govenor of Texas.He became the youngest govenor in History at that point. -
Miriam Ferguson
Miriam was the first female govenor of Texas.Her husband James Edward Ferguson was govenor from 1915 to 1917. James was under the terms of conviction and was not allowed to hold State office again. -

Charles Whitman
Charles was a student at the university of Texas.He killed 14 people and wounded 32 people during a rampage on Campus.Three were killed inside the University's towers and ten were killed from the 29 floor observation deck.The masacure happened shortly he murdered his wife and mother at their homes.He was shot and killed by Austin police officer,Houston McCoy.
