Over 2000 years ago, Mayans used Cacao seeds to make a special drink. These drinks were not sweet, but they drank them because they thought it made them strong and wise. -

Chocolate travels to Europe
The Spanish brought chocolate home with them, added sugar and spices and served the drink warm making it the first ever hot chocolate. Only the wealthy were e able to enjoy the drink. -
The first chocolate candy
A machine was invented to grind the cacao seeds which led to the popularity of chocolate candy. Then, Milk was added to the cacao seeds which is still popular today. -
Chocolate travels to the US
Milton Hershey began the mass production of chocolate in the US and it quickly became a popular ingredient in many desserts. -
Modern Chocolate
Today cacao seeds have many uses such as cooking and makeup production. We can thank the Myans and Aztecs for their wonderful discovery.
