The Maine, A U.S. ship, was located near Havana, Cuba. It exploded and many believed that Spain blew it up. Over 260 officers and crew members were lost in this tragedy. "Remember the Maine" was used as a cry for revenge during the war. We have evidence today that it was a boiler that caught fire and set off some bombs or gunpowder in the ship, blowing it up. -
