A police force halts Southern Railroad train in Paint Rock, Alabama. Nine black teens, later coined "The Scottsboro Boys " are arrested on charges of assault. This was followed by an add on of Rape charges against all nine boys after accusations are made by the claimed victums Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. Convicted
The Scottsboro boys, Clarence Norris, Charlie Weems, Haywood Patterson, Olen Montgomery, Ozie Powell, Willie Roberson, Eugene Williams, and Andy Wright are trialed and convicted, and later sentenced to death. The trial of the boys, Roy Wright ends in a mistrial when some jurors pause for a death sentence even though the prosecution asked for life imprisonment. Roy Wrights Mistrial
Roy Wright, 12, was the only one of the Scottsboro Boys who was not sentenced to death at the time of his arrest. His trial ended in a mistrial; eleven jurors believed the he should face the death penalty, with the twelfth holding out for life imprisonment. Remaining Scottsboro Boys
The remaining Scottsboro Boys, Olen Montgomery, Ozie Powell, Willie Roberson, Eugene Williams, and Andy Wright are trialed, convicted, and all sentenced to death. During the third trial, it was revealed that Willie Roberson, 17, had a case of Syphilis and Gonorrhea so severely, that it would have been physically impossible for him to have raped.
