    A very important invention that led to the rise of literacy rates all over Europe and in parts of the world. Books became much more accessible and cheaper which allowed everyday people to become more educated. The printing press contributed to the religious turmoil that engulfed Europe between the Protestants and the Church. By the 1500s, only 60 years of its upcoming, 15 to 20 million books have been produced.

    Leonardo da Vinci (1452 - 1519)
    A famous multi-sided genius. Famous for his artwork of the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. He helped change the world by enhancing our knowledge about the human body, prototypes of airplanes, and creating prototypes of military weapons such as the tank. Widely respected as the ideal "Renaissance Man". Wrote down many theories and drew prototypes of different items that resemble today's inventions in his journal; Some of his prototypes were the airplane, bicycle, and the helicopter.

    Known for his opposition of the Church and call for all Christians to read the Bible in the vernacular. He has influenced many religious figures such as Martin Luther; Luther admired Erasmus's work and teachings which had a major impact on why Luther would start the Protestant Reformation. Encouraged reforms in the Church and called for a return to early Christian values. Impacted the world by bringing change to the way people studied the Bible and called for reforms in Christianity.

    Famous painter and sculptor; Known for his statues of Pieta and David. A major influence in the Renaissance and worked with many famous and influential figures. Considered a multi-sided genius. Painted the famous ceiling frescoes of the Sistine Chapel. He set new global standards for sculpting, painting, and even poetry for intellectuals around the world. Also considered a "Renaissance Man".

    Known for his depiction of everyday peasant life in his paintings. Many Northern artists of the Renaissance in Northern Europe were influenced by this unique change and therefore created their own paintings of peasant life. His paintings of peasant life conveniently predicted the social-minded Realism and Naturalism movements in the mid-to-late nineteenth century. Impacted the world by starting a trend on the lives of everyday people in art.

    Famous astronomer, mathematician, physicist, and philosopher; Earned the title "Father of Modern Science". Created his own variation of the telescope which was used for the stars. He supported the Copernican theory. He was the First person to see the moon; He saw its spherical shape, mountains, and craters. Developed the universal law of acceleration and even an early thermometer. Impacted our world by allowing us to understand the universe along with several theories.

    William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616)
    Famous poet, playwright, and actor. Influenced the English language; Over a thousand words were added to the English language because of Shakespeare. Made great contributions to the English literature. His plays appealed to many with its everyday realistic settings and the use of the vernacular allowed ordinary people to understand his plays. Impacted the world in literature with his amazing plays which express many universal themes that people can relate to.

    Well known chemist and mathematician. Most famous for the creation of Boyle's Law. One of the first scientists to focus primarily on experiments to back up claims; This decision is what led to the creation of Boyle's Law due to the amount of evidence to support it. Boyle had also discovered that sound cannot travel through a vacuum and that magnetic forces could travel through a vacuum. He has been a true pioneer in the Scientific Revolution which helped scientists worldwide.

    Newton is a famous scientist and mathematician.
    Well known for his theory about the law of gravity and the 3 laws of motion.

    Studied and experimented with light; Discovered that white light was a composite of all the colors on the spectrum and that light was made of particles instead of waves.
    An overall influential scientist that changed the way people thought about our universe globally.
