Order No.1 issued
Was the first official order declared by The Petrograd Soviet of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies. The order was essentially a declaration through the military Duma for Russian troops to return to their barracks and follow the orders of their officers, effectively quelling any potential riots following the February Revolution.

Assasination attempt on Lenin
On this date, Fanya Kaplan, a member of the Social Revolutionary party, shoots twice at Lenin after he finishes speaking at a factory in Moscow. Lenin is seriously wounded but he survives the attack, thus prolonging civil hostilities between the Bolsheviks and their other political opponents in Russia at the time.
